Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille
I have a 1999 Cadillac deville with the northstar motor, every so often when i pull up to a stop light white smoke will come out from under the hood. Also every once in awhile it will over heat, never happens at the same time tho. What could be the cause of these problems? Could the smoke have anything to do with the over heating? if so why does it happen at different times? I also have a major leak from my power steering pump? i do not believe that this can be the cause because smoke comes from both sides of the hood when the power steering pump is on the front passenger side.

SOURCE: power steering leak
To try to find the leak, purchase a spray can of engine cleaner and spray the entire area of the pump and hoses. Then wash off with a garden hose. Fill pump reservoir with fluid. Have someone turn the steering wheel while you look in that area of the pump and hoses with a flashlight for the leak. Be careful of rotating fan and belts!

Sounds like a Blend door issue, but could be the controller switch, Test ALL modes of operation to see what works and what does not. That should narrow it down a bit. The Blend doors are flap/ doors that regulate air flow, newer vehicles are plastic - electric assemblies ...prone to failure. Any clicking or thumping noises during switching modes and on-off suggest a bad Blend door. Hope that helps...good luck

No fuse. These seats are protected with relays and a seat module. The module is under the drivers seat. There are 3 connectors and it would be hard to check all these wires for power to the motors.First look under the seat and make sure none of the connectors came apart under the seat by something that might have been left or rolled under it.The 2 main ones you can check are the connector 2 terminal C and connector 3 terminal A.C is a black wire which is ground and A is a red wire which is the feed power wire.Connector 2 is green and 3 is black. If the ground and power wires are good then you could have a bad drivers seat module. What I would do is go to the salvage yard and find a used module to try.Good luck.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your assistance. Great information"
Most likely, under the dash, coming off of the blower housing, one of the ducts has come loose.

Testimonial: "thanks handymand220 i should have said i have heat on left side and cold air on right side "
The blend door for the passenger side is not connected right or functioning correctly. Try seeing if the dial on the armrest on the passenger side is not rotated one way or the other too much.
