Question about 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
Starts nicely but if you change to second gear when driving at low refs 1600 to 2000 it sometimes hesitates but when i change the gears at high refs it is fine

Sounds like its missing on 1 or more cylinders. A check of the plugs and wires is in order, Could be a fouled plug or a loose/bad sparkplug wire. Best of luck.

Have you checked your sparkplug cables that run from the coils to the sparkplugs. Had a simular problem and it was the cables. Park in a garage, pop the bonnette and check if there is any loss of spark at the spark plugs.
