SOURCE: timing marks on engine

Use the timing marks on the damper for the crank and bring it to 0 on the cam there are marks that correspond with a mark on the head. Look on autozone dot com and put in the year make and model then look at the free repair guides.

SOURCE: How to set pump, crank and cam timing on opel corsa 1.7d utility, model 2003

Not sure here as to the type as some have a bolt in the block in line with the crank and special tool is used to locate TDC ,If the timing belt broke then you have bent valves anyway so the head will have to come off .If you reply with more details then i will advise how to do it with no timing marks also is this a common rail with just a high pressure pump or is it a intermediate with injector pump but the injectors having electronic sensor on one of the injectors if that makes sense to you

I changed my timing belt on my 2002 1.6 ecotec opel astra cde. i got the timing belt marks wrong . how must the cam pulley marks be when i got the crank on tdc please.

remove the rocker cover and look on the ends of the cams ,their are slots and they align with the head ,i use my old spanner from my angle grinder its just about the right thickness ,lower pistons to the middle then set the cams ,make sure no1 the valves point up and outwards like a V victory sign then bring the no1 piston up to TDC ,i take the plug out and use a long thin screwdriver for this .then put the belt on

if the car keeps jumping 2 or 3 teeth on the timing, it's possible that you need a new timing chain/belt and tensioner.
