Question about Saturn Cars & Trucks
My speedometer had just stopped working out of the blue and I haven't really noticed any timing issues with my transmission, but with the error code it could be 1 of 2 things, either the front oxygen sensor needs replacement or the transmission is going. I was wondering if since the speedometer isn't working if its just a tell tale sign that its the transmission and not the sensor. Please give me an answer ASAP.
Well, a broken speedometer can mean typically one of two things.
First, the actual gauge could be broken. If this is the case, it may be possible to replace just the gauge if you order an OE gauge, but more commonly, the cluster is a complete assembly and must be replaced all at once. The cluster itself, depending on complication may be rather expensive, but the real cost comes in the labor of disassembling the dash to get at the cluster.
The second option is that your vehicle speed sensor is bad or there is a problem on the line to the gauge. This can usually be acquired for a reasonable cost. The problem is in getting to it. It should be either mounted on the transmission case or the rear differential, but sometimes it can be almost inside the transmission and take a considerable amount of time to get to.

is this a 4 or 6 cylinder?
if a 4 cylinder it will only have 2 o2 sensors
V6 will have 4 o2 senors which the sensor will be the right side of the engine first sensor.
1st sensor on exhaust, I recommend if you change one change all, as this will make the computer when it rechecks the system you have all clean/fast responding sensors.
if you have a slow response it means the sensor is dirty and not reading well, which is usually caused by minor misfires that the engine computer dismisses, so a tune up would be recommended too.
