Replace the switch on the ABS "motor". When that goes bad it will cause the ABS to run constantly.

You have a bad ABS module. Had the same problem with my 2000 Taurus. The ABS module is a Bosch 5.3 You can have yours rebuilt for $170 or go to a junk yard and pull one from a 2000-2003 Taurus. Make sure its a traction control module if you have it on your car!

SOURCE: ABS Problem in my 2000 Jimmy 4x4

the best way to diagnose this problem would be with a scan tool while driving and watching the speed sensors, or check all your wheel tone rings make sure there are no cracks and they are clean, also have the computer scaned for abs codes there should be a code that may tell you which wheel speed sensor is acting up,you can also check the wiring, these seem to chaf the wiring by the control arm .a bad wheel bearing may also cause this problem, i would start with a scan of the abs system, good luck.

We just purchased a 2004 Ford Focus. When we bought it the ABS light was on and figured since the brakes worked great....it wasn't a huge deal...got an excellent deal on the car. Later while driving...

You have an ABS System failure

Could and hopefully will only be a Wheel Speed Sensor

Next time educate yourself, and don't buy a vehicle
that needs repair.

If your going to buy a 10 year old Ford, buy a lincoln or mercury
full size, so you got something to work on that will last

The ABS light came on now there is some noise under the hood, even with the key off.

You have a Malfunction in the ABS Braking System
You already know that, because you got a light on the dash
It is the same proceedure everyone is familar with, for the
last 30 years. Any light on dash, means a possible system
failure (govt mandated emission lights) You have it checked
for codes and repaired, as soon as possible.

Does this car have abs brakes

If the vehicle as ABS brakes, it is likely there is an ABS light that will light when the ignition it turned on, before starting it. Many late model cars have ABS brakes standard. I've read conflicting reports about whether the Kia Sephia from the year 2000 had this installed, so I would check with the dealer if unsure. They may be able to feed the VIN # in and find out if it is supposed to have it or not.

I would be 80% sure that it does have this feature, as this is getting to be pretty standard nowadays, even in the early 1990s on GM cars it was becoming a standard option.

There is a pump or ABS control module, that is making a hum that dosnt stop even with ignition off. Any Ideas, how to tell wich one is bad. My ABS light has been on for a while now.

Get to a dealer and have them check your cruise control. The first recall was for an inline fuse. Now they are finding that electrical problems are showing up with false dash indicators. It can affect brake lights and trans shifting.

If you want to check out the ABS, some Autozones and Oreillys have scanners for that special plug. If not, a dealer will.

If he can't tell then I personaly wouldn't use him. But that is my opinion. ABS is model dependant and I believe yours does have ABS.

Very loud Hum under driver side

There is an ABS fuse under the hood that you can take out, and the noise will quit. The noise is accually your ABS pump. They are kind of expensive.

Warning lights

You need to have your brakes inspected by a professional. The lights indicate that ABS and traction control are not working...although brakes will work without these features, a humming noise can indicate more problems to come.
