The sensor is the same one that the computer uses to control fuel mixtures according to engine temp, so if the sensor was the problem you would have a Check Engine light on and the car would run like you know what. You will need the dealer to run the active test on the fan system and see what is causing the problem.

The code doesn't mean the sensor is defective, it means it is reading incorrectly this can be the wire the sensor the computer so you see you need it diagnosed before you just throw parts at it. The ECT sensor is located near the thermostat housing.

I need to change the temperature sensor on my buick lucern

You do not need to drain the system. Make sure engine is cool enough to work on, have new sensor ready, remove old sensor and quickly install new one. Just top up radiator fluid. No bleeding required.

not clear on a cooling module...there are relays which operate the cooling fans is this what you mean? there is atemp sensor that has wires connected to it mounted in the block that will tell the fans to come on to cool the car..if this sensor is bad the system will not function properly hence with the fans if they dont come on the car wont cool down either..need each one checked and replace whats broken..good luck..

Not sure what the actual name of the fan is, but its the electric fan that blows the radiator. Changed the relay and hooked direct 12 volts to it and it works. Something has stopped sending power to...

If the coolant level is low,or there is air in the cooling system, the sensor will not send a signal to turn the cooling fans on,if the cooling system is full, and no air present, then change the coolant temp sensor, not the sending unit for the light,or gauge,
