SOURCE: Coolant Temp Sensor

The sensor is located on the drivers side engine block...although you can see if from looking from the top of the engine, you would have to get under the vehicle and look up to replace it. Be aware that it takes a special tool to unscrew the old one and screw in the replacement.

SOURCE: I need the location of the coolant temerature sensor on a 99 taco

Its at the rear of the engine, close to the firewall. Look at the intake part of the engine block for 2 wires that connect into the sensor plug. It is installed vertically.

My 1986 gmc safari runs bad in O/D. pops thru the in take pulling a hill. exhaust smells bad when it happens. I am thinking coolant temp sensor.

Think Mass airflow meter. It needs cleaning. Just don't use any spray cleaner. Severe damage will result. Look for a spray cleaner that is made specifically for the job. Check the cam position sensor too.

1994 GMC C1500 Sierra, 5.7 liter, 2WD. Replacing a one-lead ECT sensor with a two-lead??

Your engine coolant temp sensor is a two wire sensor.
The temp sending unit for temp gage is a different animal, one wire connector.

How does a car run cold

... A faulty coolant sensor that always reads cold may cause the fuel control system to run rich, it may be sending the wrong info to the computer and the guage. make sure there is no air in the coolant system, and it is full. see if coolant resorvoir is full when hot. if all is ok, change coolant sensor. good-day!

Is bank 1 on the o2 sensors the 1 located on the drivers side? Vehicle is a 98' GMC Safari 2wd.

You have it right Avalanche.
Bank 1 is normally the one with the #1 cylinder side.
So Bank 1 sensor 1 is the first one downstream, bank 1 sensor 2 is the one after the catalytic converter.
