Ford transit 52 plate clutch pedal goes soft then csnt change gear then pump pedal pedal goes back to normal drive for a short while then clutch pedal goes soft again and just repeats as above just bought...

The clutch hydraulic system has a problem-either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder on the bell housing may be at fault.

If the brake fluid is low in the clutch master cylinder reservoir, there may be a leak to the outside. Refill and check for leaks while someone pumps the clutch pedal. Check around the clutch master cylinder (also under the dash- if wet there around the top of the clutch pedal or if wet on the carpet below the pedal, the master cylinder is leaking.) Check the single line from the clutch master to the bell housing where the slave cylinder is. If no leaks found, likely the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder has failed internally.

Is it safe: there won't be any further damage caused by running it, but if shifting gets harder and harder to do, that may cause a driveability problem.

Why does clutch leak off and wont go into gear 96 toyota tacoma when you push on clutch pedal goes to the floor it wont engage clutch to be able to put into gear

the most likely reason is either the clutch master cyl. needs to be replaced.or the.slave cyl. its mounted down on the transmation under the hood find the resivore for the clutch. check the fluid level.if its low , fill it back up , and look for signs of a leak
you will probally have to bleed out all of the air from the system.its done almost the same way as bleeding the brakes. Good Luck.

2002 dodge stratus clutch has no pressure. just drops to floor.

First make sure there is fluid in the clutch master, if its full then you may have a bad clutch slave or master, if empty or low you will need to fill and bleed clutch to locate the leak. most times its the slave that leaks but also could be the clutch master that leaks.

The cylinder was empty this morning in the 1990 pathfinder for the clutch, pedal went to floor, filled master cylinder and holding fluid but pedal is still on floor. What to do....

you need to inspect the clutch hydraulic system to look for a leak.check in the truck were the master cylinder bolts to the firewall as if the master is leaking out the back it will show up the leak in this area.check around the master under the hood to see if there are signs of it leaking.check at the transmission were the slave cylinder is as this is another place they leak.if you have to fill the master because its empty there is a leak somewhere.you also may need the clutch replaced as the slave cylinder moves out to adjust for wear of the clutch which will lower the fluid level but not cause it to be empty.you will have to bleed the clutch system at the slave cylinder, there should be a bleeder screw to do this.if you find the leak in the clutch system you will have to replace the system as some come complete master lines and slave.some come with just the slave, lines, master as separate components.

Hi we have a renault master mini bus , we have had the clutch master cilander replaced 4 times now and keeps going after only a few weeks, different macanics inspected the vehicle but can not find a fault,...

It would help is you had someone look at the failed master cylinder to determine what is going wrong?
If it is rust, then the problem is water, and the whole system need flushing out.
If there is wear on one side of the master cylinder, it could be the pedal rod is not centering properly, and is wearing a groove in the master cylinder.
Another possibility is that air is getting in from a different leak somewhere, and the master cylinder never was bad at all. It just seemed to fix it when it was replaced because you have to bleed it and got rid of the air in the process. The fluid will not always leak out from a leak small enough to let air in, because the fluid is so much more viscus.
Next time bleed the brakes first.
And if the master cylinder fails, it should leak out the front.
It is is not, then it is not likely bad.
And if it leaks, it should be replaced under the warranty, that should last a year at least I would assume.

Is leaking clutch fluid-put new clutch reservior on-still leaks

Depending on where the leak is you may need to replace the clutch master cylinder or the clutch slave cylinder. Or a line, the reservior is rarly the cause of a leak. If it is leaking into the car or at the firewall the master cylinder is bad.

Where is the clutch valve located on a 95 honda accord

clutch master cylinder is located drivers side firewall, right next to brake master cylinder. it has small shot glass size fluid resevoir mounted above it,fluid is fed through hose down into clutch master. clutch master cylinder has a rod mounter on ft of it that goes through firewall and attaches to clutch pedal under dash . clutch slave cylinder is mounted on ft passenger side of transmission assy. most common leak is from master cylinder, you would be able to look under dash ,follow clutch pedal up to where it attatched to clutch master pushrod.follow that rod to wear it meets up to a small 1 1/2" or so rubber boot.fluid will be leaking from that boot if master is leaking.
