Check your coolant reservoir it maybe low on coolant. If its not then the coolant temperature sensor could be faulty.

I would go with the defective engine coolant level sensor.

Thats ur check engine light. check all ur fluids oil/transmission/coolant or antifreeze. If light stays on then see a mechanic, and they have a machine that pugs into ur car and tells you whats wrong

My temperature guage stays in the middle, is this ok?

Yes, the temperature gauge should normally stop in the middle, between the cold and hot points on the gauge. When the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed and will keep recirculating the coolant in the engine block until it warms up sufficiently. Then the temperature of the warm coolant will cause the thermostat to open the channel to the radiator to get rid of excess heat, which should stop the coolant from over heating. So the effect of the thermostat keeps the coolant at a fairly stable temperature. When the coolant runs low, it can't transfer enough heat to the radiator and the coolant and engine then over heats. Watch for radiator leaks under your car after you have been driving it. If the coolant goes low again fairly quickly you could have a leak in a hose or the radiator itself.

Coolant low light on and check service engine

If your coolant low light is on it usually means you need to add coolant to the plastic reservoir, but if the coolant level is ok in the reservoir but the light still stays on then the coolant level sensor in the reservoir is not functioning properly. The check service engine light can mean anything from serious engine problems to a simple oxygen sensor reading that the computer didn't like. You can stop by your local auto parts store and they will read the codes and tell you exactly why it is on and what the computer has detected.

1990 Regal Coupe 3.1 engine. Low Coolant Light Stays Lit

This is a COMMON Problem that GM had with the Level Sensor Curciut, And they Never Correctly Addressed it. I Have on ocations Replaced the Sensor and that Corrected the Problem, BUT Other times the Light STAYS ON No matter What, I have tracked the Wires and all I Have Ever Found was the Plug Being FAULTY. So if A NEW Coolant LEVEL SENSOR Does NOT Turn off the Light, try Replacing the PLUG Itself.

I have a 1997 buick skylark and my low coolant light is on so i bought a gallon of the local advance autos 50 50 and filled the resevor let the car run 5 min with cap off level stayed the same am i doing...

Are you sure the coolant is still low in the bottle. The coolant sensor thats in the bottle has a float that can stick. If it sticks the low coolant light will stay on even if the coolant level is right. Try tapping on the coolant reservoir bottle in the area where the electrical wire enters it. Not too hard. If that is the porblem the light should reset.

Engine light stays on a 97 olds achieva sl

Engine light stays on, low coolant light stays on , recently had a plastic housing replaced that was leaking, it was linked to thermostat, tranmission coolant, heater ect. Had the thermostat replaced also. Level of coolant is fine, does't overheat anymore, but now the starter wants to spin a couple of times and then it starts. The car has no rust, would like to hang on to it
