SOURCE: Getting 12V on the ground wire to the coil. Any

If you are testing with coil installed, there should be little resistance in the primary windings, therefore 12v can be expected there. When the negative lead is grounded (by points, computer etc) the field set up within the coil collapses and induces spark. If you don't have spark you need to further check the coil with an ohmeter and then check out the "triggering" mechanisms (Inductance coil under breaker plate in distributor (cam sensor), crank position sensor, control module, etc. Get a manual and identify the system you have for your particular engine and test accordingly.

With the key in the off position; remove the RDO BAT fuse for at least 10 seconds then replace the fuse; turn on or start the vehicle and try the A/C again. Removing the fuse should reset blend actuators.

Wire diagram for chevy 3500 van

When you say charging,do you mean amp reading or volt reading?Amps should rise when first started then drop.Volts should stay close to constant. The small wire going to the alternator to power the regulator in the alternator is just switched power. If the volts fall under 14 after ten minutes you may need to try a replacement alternator.

How do I get to the blower motor on a 1984 oldsmobile toronado?

Your Buick Riviera's heater fan is powered by a blower motor, which in turn is powered by a blower motor resistor. The resistor is a small electrical component that also regulates the fan speeds of the blower motor. Like any part, the blower burns out from time to time and has to be replaced. Replacement blower motor resistors cost about $50. It will take you about 30 minutes to install a new one in your Buick Riviera.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver
    • 1

Open the hood and disengage the negative battery cable on your Buick Riviera using your socket set. You will need a 10mm socket to loosen the battery cable bolt.

    • 2

Remove the plastic trim panel under the glove compartment on the passenger side of your Riviera.

    • 3

Loosen and remove the mounting screws that hold the blower resistor in place on your Riviera.

    • 4

Unplug the wiring harness from the old blower resistor and then remove the resistor completely.

    • 5

Plug the wiring harness into your Buick's new resistor. Also tighten the screws to hold the resistor in place.

    • 6

Reattach the negative battery cable on your Riviera and tighten it with your socket set.

91 festiva wont start

First make sure that the battery is charged up all of the way and that a positive 12V current is reaching the positive terminal of the starter motor. You can test it with an inexpensive 12V test light available from any auto parts store for about $10. You need that for diagnosing any electrical problems if you have checked the fuses and they are all good. Its also possible that the fusable link got shorted out and that will stop the car from turning over. The fusable links are 3 wires sticking up from a small box on the drivers side shock mount in the engine compartment. Check that they are not burned. If all of that is good, then use your test light to see if 12V current is reaching the ignition switch under the plastic cover behind the steering wheel and on the opposite side of the key.
