How to connect the hose to the thermostat seems like its not connected coz my thermostat doesn't go up when it over heats.

SOURCE: vaccuum hose coming from transmission isnt connected to anything

I think you are talking about a vent hose. The new vehicles haven't used vacuum controls on trannys for a long time. Yours would be computer controlled. In short, the hose probably hooks to nothing....

4.6L & 5.4L SOHC Engines

  1. Partially drain the engine cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  2. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the water outlet adapter.
  3. Remove the power steering reservoir upper mounting bracket.
  4. Remove the bolts and remove the water outlet adapter.
  5. Remove the water thermostat and the O-ring seal. Discard the O-ring seal.
  6. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the water outlet adapter bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Tighten the power steering reservoir upper mounting bracket as shown in the accompanying illustration.

  1. Partially drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  2. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
  3. Remove the coolant outlet connection, as follows:
    1. Remove the bolts.
    2. Remove the coolant outlet connection.

  4. Remove the (A) coolant thermostat and the (B) O-ring seal.
  5. Discard the (B) O-ring seal.

To install:

NOTE Thermostat must be installed as illustrated.
  1. Use a new (A) O-ring seal to position the (B) coolant thermostat in the (C) upper intake manifold.

  2. Install the coolant outlet connection, as follows:
    1. Position the coolant outlet connection on the upper intake manifold.
    2. Install the bolts and tighten to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).

  3. Connect the upper radiator hose.
  4. Fill the cooling system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
  4. Remove the coolant outlet connection, as follows:
    1. Remove the bolts.
    2. Remove the coolant outlet connection.

  5. Remove the (A) coolant thermostat and the (B) O-ring seal.
  6. Discard the (B) O-ring seal.

To install:

NOTE Thermostat must be installed as illustrated.
  1. Use a new (A) O-ring seal to position the (B) coolant thermostat in the (C) upper intake manifold.

  2. Install the coolant outlet connection, as follows:
    1. Position the coolant outlet connection on the upper intake manifold.
    2. Install the bolts and tighten to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).

  3. Connect the upper radiator hose.
  4. Fill the cooling system.


5.4L DOHC Engine

  1. Partially drain the engine cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  2. Disconnect the upper radiator hose, the heater water inlet hose and the heated PCV inlet hose from the water outlet adapter.

  3. Remove the water hose connection and thermostat.
  4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the mounting bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

3.5L Engine


CAUTION Never remove pressure cap with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur.

  1. Disconnect negative cable from remote jumper terminal.
  2. Drain cooling system.
  3. Disconnect radiator upper hose from thermostat housing.
  4. Remove thermostat housing bolts.
  5. Remove housing, thermostat, and gasket.

  6. Clean gasket sealing surfaces.

To install:
  1. Install thermostat and gasket into thermostat housing. For ease of installation, install bolts in housing for thermostat and gasket retention.
  2. Install thermostat and housing to the intake manifold. Tighten the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  3. Connect radiator hoses and install hose clamp.
  4. Refill cooling system.
  5. Connect negative cable to remote jumper terminal

Looking for a diagram of where the thermostat is on a 1997 toyota camry 2.2 engine. Thank You


I can't give you a diagram but I can tell you where it is, follow the bottom radiator hose up to where it connects to the engine, you will see a housing with two 10mm nuts, the thermostat is inside this housing, remove the two nuts and the hose then pull the housing off.

  1. Drain the coolant until the level of the coolant is below the level of the thermostat.
  2. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the water hose connection.
  3. Unfasten the three water inlet connection retaining bolts and remove the water hose connection.
  4. Remove the gasket and thermostat from the water hose connection. Discard the gasket.
To install:
  1. Clean the water inlet connection mating surfaces.
    NOTE The jiggle valve on the thermostat must be in the up position.
  2. Place the thermostat in the water hose connection making sure the thermostat jiggle valve is facing up.
  3. Install the new gasket and place the water hose connection assembly into position.
  4. Install the water hose connection assembly retainers and tighten them to 89-124 inch lbs. (10-14 Nm).
  5. Connect the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection.
  6. Fill the engine with coolant, start the engine and check for leaks.
  7. Stop the engine and top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary.

3.0L DOHC Engine

  1. Drain the coolant until the level of the coolant is below the level of the thermostat.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support it with jackstands.
  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet connection.
  4. Unfasten the two water inlet connection retaining bolts and remove the water inlet connection.
  5. Remove the O-ring seal and thermostat from the water inlet connection. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace as necessary.
To install:
  1. Clean the water inlet connection mating surfaces.
  2. Install the O-ring, thermostat and the water inlet connection. Refer to the accompanying illustration If you can-t remember how the O-ring and thermostat are positioned.
  3. Install the water inlet connection assembly retainers and tighten them to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection.
  5. Fill the engine with coolant, start the engine and check for leaks.
  6. Stop the engine and top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary.

How to replace the thermostat on 2003 mitsubishi galant?


Thermostat Removal & Installation To Remove:

  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the air cleaner.
  3. When disconnecting the radiator lower hose connection, put mating marks on the radiator lower hose and hose clamp before you disconnect them.
  4. Remove the water inlet fitting.
  5. Remove the thermostat.
To Install:

  1. Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Make sure not to fold or scratch the rubber ring. CAUTION
    Be certain that no oil gets onto the rubber ring of the thermostat. Also be cautious not to scratch or fold the rubber ring as you install it.
  2. Install the water inlet fitting.
  3. When connecting the radiator lower hose connection, do the following:
    • Step 1: Insert each hose as far as the projection on the water inlet fitting will go.
    • Step 2: Line up the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, then connect the radiator hose.

3.0L DOHC Engine





  1. Drain the coolant until the level of the coolant is below the level of the thermostat.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support it with jackstands.
  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet connection.
  4. Unfasten the two water inlet connection retaining bolts and remove the water inlet connection.
  5. Remove the O-ring seal and thermostat from the water inlet connection. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace as necessary.

To install:
  1. Clean the water inlet connection mating surfaces.
  2. Install the O-ring, thermostat and the water inlet connection. Refer to the accompanying illustration If you can-t remember how the O-ring and thermostat are positioned.
  3. Install the water inlet connection assembly retainers and tighten them to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection.
  5. Fill the engine with coolant, start the engine and check for leaks.
  6. Stop the engine and top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary.

How do i change out my thermostat?


Mitsubishi Outlander 2003-06

Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then the positive battery cable.
    CAUTION Wait at least 90 seconds after the negative battery cable is disconnected to prevent possible deployment of the air bag.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

  4. Remove the battery and battery tray.
  5. Matchmark the installed positions of the hose and hose clamp, then disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet fitting.
  6. Detach the control hose electrical connection.
  7. Remove the control wiring harness connection bracket.
  8. Unfasten the retainer(s), then remove the water inlet fitting.
  9. Remove the thermostat.

To install:
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:

    Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Be careful not to fold or otherwise damage the rubber ring.

    Refer to the fastener tightening specifications shown on the accompanying illustration. During installation of the lower radiator hose connection, insert the hose as far as the projection of the water inlet fitting. Align the matchmarks on the hose and hose clamp, then connect the hose.

    Fill the engine with the proper type and amount of engine coolant.
  2. Connect the positive, then the negative battery cables, then start the engine and check for leaks.

I can't find the thermostat. do you have a diagram of where it is located for 93 ford exployer?


Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Where it connects to the engine you will find the thermostat under the piece that the hose connects too.
