The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

did you purge the air from the fuel system, or try to start it with ether? you may want to check the timing again if no fuel is being supplied to the engine.

SOURCE: diesel fuel leak. looking for diagram of injector

Get a professionally rebuilt pump. Don't try to mess with rebuilding yours, it isn't worth it. I know the rebuilt pumps are high ($450) plus, but it will pay off in reliability and performance.

I How do I know if my toyota ln166 injector pump is malfunction?

There are several signs that can indicate a malfunctioning injector pump on a Toyota LN166. The most common sign is the engine struggling to start and running rough even after the engine has warmed up. Other signs could include uneven power delivery, excessive smoke from the exhaust, and hesitation or stalling when accelerating. To diagnose the problem, you should check the fuel pressure, the fuel filter, and the spark plug for blockages or signs of fouling. Additionally, you can check the injector pump for any signs of wear or damage. If you need further assistance, you can consult a certified Toyota mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.

How can I change fuel injectors on a Toyota Tacoma 98 4 cylinder

The Toyota Tacoma has a fuel injector that mixes fuel with air. This technology almost completely replaced carburetors in the late 1980s and its programmable firmware allows the same hardware to be used with different fuels. A fuel injector is only a nozzle and a valve; it still requires a pump to inject the fuel into the engine.
    • 1 Determine which fuel injector your Toyota Tacoma will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models made before 2005 may have a 2.4L, 2.7L or 3.4L engine. The current version may have a 2.7L or 4.0L engine.
    • 2 Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the engine under cover subassembly and drain the engine coolant. Detach the intake air connector and disconnect the throttle body motor assembly with a socket wrench.
    • 3 Disconnect the fuel lines and remove the fuel pressure pulsation damper assembly with a socket wrench. Unplug the electrical connectors for the fuel and vacuum switching valve. Remove the engine wiring harness clamp and the air conditioning compressor clutch connector with a socket wrench.
    • 4 Remove the two fuel rail mounting bolts with a socket wrench and lift out the fuel rail with the injectors still attached. Pull out the fuel injectors and discard the old gaskets.
    • 5 Use new gaskets and install the new fuel injectors by reversing the removal procedure.
    • 6 Fill the coolant reservoir with coolant of the proper grade and type. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

Rodeo 2006 diesel turbo.loss of power as if little fuel.could it be turbo or injectors

First try replacing the fuel filter and also check the air filter element, if its clogged with dust replace.
After doing all this check the performance of the engine,if its still the same thn time to remove the injector nozzles for service.
The last option would thn be the pump(injector).
Hope this helps!
