SOURCE: 1991 honda accord "no spark"

There is a relay mounted way up under the dash on the driver side. It is about 1"x1"x2" and it says Mitsuba on it. This is the PGMFI relay, sometimes called the main relay or fuel injection relay. It is very likely the problem. You can buy another one, or there was a bulletin on how to repair it. You need to take it out, pop the cover off, and resolder the cracked solder joints on the pc board that the relays are mounted on. Really not that hard if you have a little soldering experience. If not, just buy another one, about 50 bucks.cb28323.jpg

SOURCE: 1992 Honda Accord LX won't start - ignition problems

I would remove the distributor cap and crank the engine over . If the rotor does not turn , then you need to replace the timing belt. The timing belt needs to be replaced every 60 K. If the rotor turns then make sure you have spark to a spark plug. Run a compression test on each cylinder. The basics to run are compression, spark, fuel and timing.

SOURCE: 1992 Honda Accord died

Ignition coil, transistor, rotor, distributor cap or other component in ignition circuit like ignition switch- may crank but no spark. In that order. Good luck.

No spark after changing cap and rotor

Check to see if the Check Engine Light illumunates when you first turn the the key on. if it does most likely you have a faulty ignitor in the distributor assembly. There is a voltage drop test that can be done to determine if the ignitor or coil assembly is bad. If the Check Engine Light does not illuminate check for a good ground at the thermostat housing. Ground 101 or the ECU is bad. More times then not the ignitor is faulty since honda had switched to the external coil assembly by 1992.

1992 honda accord turns over, but doesn't start--there is plenty of fuel--it fired for a moment then died. It is fuel injected.

A common problem with this year Honda is the main relay becomes hot and the internal connections open up, causing a no start condition. I am assuming everything else is in good working condition. The main relay is located on the driverside kick panel up about 12 inches from the floor, mounted with a single bolt and looks like this;

I replaced the distributer and the coil in my 1992 honda accord and still get no spark and have been told its the main relay, What should I be looking for aside from that. Everything else comes on...

If your fuel pump works, your main relay if fine. When you say you replaced the distributer, did your new one come with ALL the internal components? If not, you should replace your ignitor (it's inside the distributer). It is pretty common for these thing to go bad on these Accords.

I have a 92 Honda accord that has been sitting idle for a long time and now wont start. Ignition lights are on and engine turns over but there is no spark from the coil to the distributor. I changed the...

Do not hotwire the "-" terminal on the coil. The ignition system modulates the "-" signal to release the sparks. Check the ignition fuse under the dashboard. If good, use a test light at the coil to check for voltage at the coil. If you don't have a test light, you can buy one at a parts store for a few dollars. Connect the test light clamp to engine ground and touch the point to the "+" terminal of the coil. If no voltage, suspect the ignition switch is bad. If there is voltage at the coil, suspect the ignition module is bad. If you have more questions, please let us know.

check to see if you have spark when it happen,
if there is no spark then you need a new coil, ignitor or a whole distributor.
if there is spark then you need to check the fuel pump relay under the dash
