Your radio must be left "on" until you see "code" in the display area where you would see stations. When you see "code" enter the numbers you have by using the radio buttons, For instance if the code is 52885, press 52885 using the buttons.

if you get any error then you need to contack BMW dealer.

thank you.

Hi ljb7300

If you input the code three times wrong than the radio block itself for an hour. You can disconnect the battery, connect again and than try to input your code.

What you gonna do is turn of the radio. The volume switch off. Than you insert your keys and turn the ignition to the radio position, after that turn radio on.

Be sure not to press any button before inputing the code.

Now you can input your code like the numbers are going after the last number, you will hear a beep! and the radio will come back to life.

First you have to wait until you see 'code' in the radio display. That is you have to leave the radio powered on until you see that in the display.

When you see 'code' in the display, you then use the radio buttons to enter the code, the buttons you use to select a station. For instance if your code was 33225 then you would press the station buttons to enter that code.

I believe if you enter the wrong code a certain number of times, it will lock you out and you'll have to wait a certain amount of time before you can try again. I believe it will say something like 'Code Wait'.

If you input the code wrong three times the radio disables itself until it is powered for one hour. After that you can input the code with no problem. Keep the code in a safe place as it will be required if you ever lose power to the radio.

As far as the radio, it might have been tried prior to your attempts so it will not take a code number until it resets. A local repair shop told us with the radio on turn the key to the accessory position for 3-5 hours to and it will reset. After it is reset then it should take the code.

If you know the code simply enter it with the number keys.
You have preset buttons numberd from 1 to 6, your code should have only numbers with in that range. just make sure that the radio is on and the display is asking for the code and use your preset buttons to enter the code.

You need to contact your local BMW dealer. If you are lucky, the original selling dealer entered the radio code along with your vehicles other RDR info. If not, the dealer should be able to retrieve the radio code given the radio serial number (either recorded on the main unit or accessible through a key sequence - which method would be determined by the make/age of the head unit)

What is the radio unlock code for a 1996 BMW 328i?

If you cannot find the code written on something in the glove box, you will have to remove the radio. Once removed, you will need the serial number off of the radio chassis. You can call BMW with this number and they will give you the code.

Hope this helps!

Hey there i have a 1997 BMW 328i and i changed my battery n when i started the car up my radio said code wait andd now i cant get rid of it please help me fix this. thank you ...

Hi chris,

Code wait is part of the built in anti-theft system BMW has for the radio. The ignition must remain in the on position for 1 continuous hour. Usually rush hour traffic does the trick. You will need the radio code to enter into the radio after it displays "CODE". just enter the code according to the buttons listed 1-6. ie if it ask for 13556, just enter the digits in that sequence. Make sure you have the correct code. If 3 unsuccessful consecutive entries are made, you will have to wait another hour.

My problem is that i just bought a 328i 1997 and the radio is coded, so what I need is the code but this car doesnt has a owners manual, how can I activate the radio again or how can i get the code number?

Unfortunately, you will have to go to a BMW dealer with the registration papers to prove you own it. Then they can look it up in their database. If the radio was ever replaced, they may not be able to figure it out for you. they will only be able to tell you the code of the original radio that came in the car from the factory.

My 1997 328i radio displays Phone. I have disconnected the battery and tried to reset but instead of asking for the code it still displays Phone. Please help!! My CD's won't even work.

somehow the radio memory is still thinking that there is a phone accessory attached to it and it will keep doing this until you either reset the radio or at least erase the memory inside of it. If I were you I would install a aftermarket radio in your BMW because at least this way you will be able to listen to your cd's.

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
