Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Galant
2000 mitsubishi galant with 84thousand
when car is ideling sometimes it will bog down and almost die. It does this whenever it wants
Here the weird thing
I noticed when I hit the air cleaner box it chugged with car on and in park. So I cleaned the Mass air flow sensor. No change so I started hitting around and looking for vaccume leaks.
When I hit above the Throttle Body and a little after going to the engine 2 black air tubes. It chugs really bad and gets worse as I hit it harder So i am pretty sure it is something in throttle body area probably some sensor.
Can you point me in the right direction as where to start looking and or replacing origanally I was thinking it was the IAC valve but I don't understand why when I hit it, It chuggs baddddd
Hey common problem w/the 2000 galant. you may need a mirror to see this, look and or feel where your throttle body mates up to your intake manifold. it has a problem of cracking, when you have an air leak there it will run like **** and usually shut off depending on the severity. this will cause you to get the throttle position malfunction code. if that is the case instead of buying a new or used intake manifold. take the old one off, and you can actually cut it flush and weld about a 2 inch in length tube to repair the crack. well let me know how it goes.
