Fault code p1123 for ssang yong rexton

Automatic gearbox seems to be slipping - engine races at times but progress slows. Happens intermittently, especially when towing horsebox. had transmission fluid checked and topped up. only 20,000 miles on this 2008 vehicle, so hopefully auto gearbox is not failing. the computer is showing up fault codes p1123 and p1120, which is related to a faulty accelerator pedal. could this be the cause of the above symptoms?

SOURCE: At low speed from deceleration or accelerating

Sounds like a faulty cam sensor. ford is known for this to happen. This does not show up because it is a mechanically working peice. get it checked and replaced it necessary.

I had a similar issue on a grand cherokee '98 4.0L, and it was because the gearbox was overheating due to old oil and the fact that is was low on oil. Change gearbox oil and the filter inside the gearbox checked the two band tension and adjusted them and all was ok. the oil should be red or a dark pink. It would point more to this being the poblem if when it does change gear, the gear changes seam slow or slugish or change happens at higher engine revs. You may be able to get a fault code from ecu, by turning ign. to acc then on then off then on then off then on then off then off hen on again (code is displayed instead of odomitor reading as PXXXX or POXXXX). This could point you i one or more directions if oil seem to be correct.

Dear kev4,

The problem seems to be originating from your gearbox. The gear box has two main components that convert the torque of the engine to the tailshaft; the 'torque converter' and the 'bands' within the gearbox. If at higher rpm the car starts to rev higher and slow down then it would suggest that one of these two components are slipping or not functioning correctly.

To fix this problem you will have to take your car to a gearbox specialist who with either reccomend a replacement gearbox, a overhaul of the orriginal gearbox or if you get lucky a new torque converter. Unfortunately this car be a costly opperation but is quite important in reguards to the life of the vehicle.

Reguards luke.

Change your gearbox oil, and clean out the oil strainer.
Should help.

( On some models, you have to remove the gearbox oil pan to clean the strainer )
