I start the mustang mtl 20 made by Takeuchi and it will run for about 30 seconds and then die. The red lights on the right hand control panel flash.

I'd suggest the ignition control module, however I'd have a certified mechanic check it out just in case...

I have a 85 coupe, the pumps are notorous for going out.Best bet is empty the whole tank.the pump .Is easy to pull its under the filler door.1 make sure its not your security system shutting off
your injectors .2 turn key in on poss and open gas door you should hear the motor. If not
disconnect batt and remove.be car e you dont lose the screen.once out dry off and hook up to any batt to check.there only 30 bucks but make sure you ground it out right and dont turn it on in a dry tank ,you will burn it out.

this is your problem:
Here are the most common causes of surges, stalls at stops, low erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: runs for 20 seconds then dies
Tryreplacing tfuel pump or at least have the PSI checked. a failing fuel pump will get worse and worse until dead. What happens is when the pump heats up it stars putting out less and less fuel until it starts to sputter and then die. When it cools off it runs fine again until it heats up again. Fuel cools the pump so make sure you have half a tank on hot days but sounds like it finally just gave out.

The engine has an electronic module where the spark plug wires connect to. Replace this and you will see the difference. Once this module heats up it will malfunction. After cooling down the car will start up again. hope this helps.
