SOURCE: 2000 Lincoln ls overheating

There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.

SOURCE: 2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.

SOURCE: The power window on the front left side is not

Had to replace the switch cluster on ours. Same problem.

Also had problems with passenger side. Motor worked, but the window didn't move. Turned out to be a broken (rusty) cable in the window regulator.

I hope it's not the timing chain tensioner,Chris. I know the 2000 V8 engines had bad tensioners.
Could it be a loose starter or the starter drive is hanging up in the flywheel teeth?
Could it be a really bad DRIVE BELT TENSIONER or the idler pulley gone bad?
It's just difficult to say,but I hope it's not the TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS. Lot of miles on it? don-ohio (:^)

What are the signs of a bad timing chain in a 2000 lincoln ls

there isnt realy any thing to check without taking it off most metal chains will last for 100000 miles or so before they need changing some times they stretch slightley and make a rattling noise but there should be an auto self ajuster that takes up the slack any way( basically thats a pice of hard plastic and a couple of springs ) hope this helps ivan

I need to know how to replace a head gasket on a 2000 lincoln ls

That is an awful big job ,I can't see even experienced
people doing it on a Lincoln LS

Just to work on the timing chains alone, is beyond
some repair shops, on those engines

I have 2000 ls , took eng apart and found cam chain broke. and wonder what cause it to break clean? nothing is bang up.should i place cam chain and that be it or there more to it?

Very rare that a chain breaks. I'd replace the chain and before closing it up, turn the engine by hand and see if anything is binding or frozen in the valvetrain. Also look carefully at the valve springs to make sure that no valves have bent. (if bent, most times the spring will not return to normal height)

You need a pro that has the proper tools, dont try this yourself. 4 chains. no you dont take the motor out. you will need to replace all chains/ guides. Get your wallet out. could run $1500 or more

Oil in 2000 lincoln ls is 4 quarts low after only 3 months, now there is knocking in engine.

Hi!!

This noise can mean bad news, but, let's not panic and try something.

Some times when oil level gets too low, the lifters discharge and valves start making a quick knocking noise that doesn't quit even if the oil level is normal.
and increases when you step on the gas.

This happened to my friend's car and fix the problem adding a Valve Quiet oil additive, in a couple of minutes the noise was gone.

If this is not the noise you are hearing, take it to a mechanic shop for repair, preferably on a Tow Truck, because the more you run the engine, the more damage you can cause to it.

Good Luck

Just bought Lincoln LS 2000 Problem: with AC on

I had the same problem and replaced the dual coolant control valve . The part was around $200.00
on line. Make sure you label the hoses-- hard to get out. I am not geared with all the bells and whistles for auto work it took me about six hours. I have read on line that some people clean the valve and reinstall it.
I took the car to three mechanics and they tried telling me it was a blend door motor . These motors rarely go bad. MY AC works fine now. Good Luck
