SOURCE: heater core

18901fc.gifHere is an exploded view of the heating/air conditioning blower box. This contraption is located on the passengerside under the dash. I've changed heater cores on other cars but never worked on a caravan so not sure how difficult it'll be. You may need to remove a few cover panels to access this and the heater core #22 is located behind the distribution box #6 containing parts 7-18 and hopefully comes off as a unit. I wouldn't want to put it back together just looking at the pic. You may just need to remove the heater tube cover #4 to access the connections and slide out the core.....NAH couldn't be that simple!!! Hope this was of some help. Good luck.

All you have to do is follow your radiator to it. From the front of the car into the dash.Your Heater Core is in your dash somewhere behind the intake manifold.

It's a big job. Drain the coolant down, recover the freon in the ac system and disconnect the lines and heater hoses. Lower the steering column, remove the instrument panel assembly, remove the heater housing. Split the case halves on the housing and there you are. Usually around 500 to 700 dollars at a dealership.

Remove heater core 2003 dodge stratus

This is a BIG job, requiring removal of the dashboard, discharging the a/c system, and removing the heater/airconditioning unit from the car (a big box with the evaporator, heater core, blower fan, and various doors that direct airflow). If you want to DIY, there are several videos on YouTube for similar models - you can view those to get an idea of what is involved.

My 2000 Dodge Stratus SE heater does not blow very warm air. If it's below 30 degrees it is really bad. I've had the radiator flushed, the heater core cleaned, and something else done but no one seems to...

Measure the coolant temprature, consider new thermostat, then chech for water flow into and out of the heater core, then check heater door operation.

this repair is very extensive if you have limited ability then do not attempt,,,,,, the steering column has to be dropped. entire dash removed, ac freon recovered coolant drained below core then the heater box assembly has to be removed as a whole then disassemble heater box to replace the core then reverse procedure.

Heater core

The automotive repair manuels that you can buy at the major part stores such as Autozone, Advance or ORiley's do a good job of describing how the heater core is removed. Most heater cores come out from under the dash, while a rare few are removed from the firewall.

One wonders why you are changing the heater core. Are you getting steam on the inside of your windshield? Usually the best indication your heater core is leaking, or are you getting no heat? In which case it make be duct doors.
