sounds like the seals are gone on the 4wd shaft, it takes oil pressure to keep the 4wd off, but if the seals are worn the all passes through and the 4wd will not dissingage, you will need a experianced michanic

SOURCE: volvo front end knock

Most likely the sway bar links,if quiet unless you hit little bumps or cracks thats the most likely thing on a volvo. Followed by ball joints and tie rods. If it only happens when you are sitting still and move the steering wheel side to side that would be a tie rod.

I got an infinity 2005 g 35. I'm starting to hear a knocking noise. I don't know if its the engine, It sounds like it's coming from the side somewhere but definitely under the Hood.? Idk

if the knock speeds up with rpm increase then it definitely is the engine. if it is a solid sounding knock that would be bottom end. if it is more of a hollow knock or more like a tick then could be top end...lifters, exhaust leak or check to see if anything is hitting your cooling fan.

Knock comming from engine diesel

if it is a heavy knock that increases with engine rpms , it could be a big end bearing
this can be checked by releasing the fuel line to each injector and if the bearing is faulty the noise will decrease ( remove electric wire if efi controlled )
alternatively it may be a dribbling injector tip and that will be fixed by reconditioned injectors

Hi. I have mazda drifter wl turbo 2,5 diesel. Cam belt snapped and broke 2 valves. I replaced the complete head and serviced the pump and replaced new injector nozzles. Also did big ends and small end...

incorrect ignition point for the injectors
diesels ignition point is around 22 degrees btdc for pumps or from the crank sensor if common rail ( information of year or pump or common rail not included )
if it is a pump with pipes to injectors , you have the timing incorrect

Daughter says here car sound like a diesel has code of knock sensor

If the code says the knock sensor i would start with that The knock sensor sences the spark and helps the computer control the spark advance for the engine timing Because this is done automaticly by the computer control system it will have a big effect on how the vehicle runs

Knock in engine

it can also be an injector. injectors tend to supply more diesel after long service. To check if this is the problem: let the motor idle whilst it knocks. start from the front of the motor- loosen no1 injector fuel line- the motor will start idling roughly as fuel supply to no1 piston is starved. If the knock persists, tighten the fuel line and move to no2 injector and repeat the process. the knock will gradually go away if one of the injectors' fuel lines are loosened and the injector is faulty. If you get 1 or more injectors with these symptoms, remove and replace the injector. If the problem persists, it can either be that one of the diesel pump plungers are worn and supplies too much fuel or a big end bearing is faulty.

Knocking in cylinder head of escort 1.8 lx td

Hi

Engine knock, if it is coming from low down in the block, is usually caused by worn big ends, and is more pronounced at idle or under load.

Diesels, however have the added bonus of being able to create a nice knock due bad fuel atomisation, overfuelling, or excess oil burning.

Bad fuel atomisation is usually caused by dirty injectors.

Excess oil burning is usually caused by a worn turbo amongst other things.

Very best regards
