try opening the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder so that you are not trying to press against the pressure plate when you push the rod into the master cylinder.

Lay your pushrods in a row exactly like you removed them and work backwards to install them if you want each pushrod to set with its original lifter.

If you are trying to put the rods back in and got them messed up, then , Standing on the passenger side of the car, the left side of the engine is long,short, long,short, short, long front to back. the right side is long , short, short, long ,short, long Front to back. Hope this helps.

I don't know that you will find a "diagram" like what you are asking for, but I can tell you that the longer pushrods go on the Exhaust Valves and the shorter ones go on the Intake Valves.

Hi the LONG push rods are EXHAUST
the SHORT ones are INTAKE

Found on the web, not sure what you mean about pinholes, the push rods spin freely when they are in the engine.
