Do I need to replace transmission fluid?

Forget the dash reminder gadgets or manufacture
maintenance schedules
You change trans fluid every 3 years
If you want to change at 30,000 miles that's
perfect,just don't go past 3 years & do power
steering at same time

I've had my 2006 chevy cobalt LS since 2007 and has never had the transmission flushed.when and or should it ever be flushed?

Every vehicle should have the automatic trans fluid changes at 30,000 miles and never go over
3 years, even if the milage is less.
Also,do the power steering at the same time.

Had an oil change about a month ago and about 5 weeks later motor is gone. No oil light came on, no oil leaks

WELL NO OIL LEAKS.WARRANTY MIGHT COVER IT BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW ALL OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS.ALSO YOU HAVE TO USE GM MOTOR OIL LIKE 5W - 30 VALVOLINE USE GM OIL FILTERS.THEY WILL CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH SERVICE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE SCHEDULES.CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK SHOULD BE AT FULL MARK LINE. THE CHEVY COBALT LS LT LTZ 2.2 ENGINE HOLDS 5.0 QUARTS OF OIL WITH NEW FILTER AND CHEVY COBALT SS SC HOLDS 6.0 QUARTS WITH NEW FILTER.IF OIL LEVEL LOOK OKAY.CHECK ON INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS OR ANY TROUBLE WITH EARLY OIL PUMP FAILURE.

At how many miles do I need a tune up?

It depends on the engine you have. If you do not have a 100,000 mile sparkplug then replace plugs every 40,000 to 50,000 miles. Or at 2 to 3 year intervals whichever comes first.

Other maintenence requires shorter times. Oil changes and filters 3000 to 5000 miles. Air filters about 12,000 miles. If you have a distributor cap and rotor about 30,000 to 40,000 miles depending on wear.
Check antifreeze strength, change antifreeze every 3 years. Always have axles and wheel bearings checked at least every 24,000 miles. Lube door hinges annually, hood release, trunklid hinges, etc.

Spark Plug Life

Hi.

30,000 miles is about right for changing standard spark plugs. You can install upgraded (and more expensive) Iridium tipped plugs which are claimed to last up to 100,000 miles but on a standard vehicle 30,000 is the correct replacement mileage interval.

Stick to the vehicles recommended service schedule and never mind what your friend says! Afterall these service intervals are already designed for a vehicle running on unleaded!

Carbon build up on plugs has a lot more to do with correct oil and oil filter changes than unleaded fuel.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS ,supercharger maintenance 2.0L five spee

I use 5W30 Mobile 1 synthetic-5 quarts.

The air filter change is a real pain.
Remove driver side tire.
Remove driver side wheel well.
You will see the filter canister in the front of the wheel well.

I had a mechanic do it for me and it took him 1.5 hours. If you plan to do it yourself, be sure you have plenty of time and alot of patience.

Annual maintenance

The only other things would be to check the air & cabin filters to make sure they're still clean enough. The scheduled maintenance on those is 50,000 miles.
