How does your clutch feel? You might just have to just adjust the clutch peddle.

SOURCE: 2002 Ford Ranger Clutch Problems

It's not the clutch, it is the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and you will see that it will be empty. The problem is the trans has to be removed to replace it.

SOURCE: My 1991 Ford Ranger Clutch Problem.

Your clutch has nothing to do with the engine starting other than the safety switch which will only turn the engine over if your foot is on the clutch. This switch is in the drivers footwell and is operated mechanically by the clutch pedal. If your clutch is hydrolic, there will either be a separate reservoir to the right of the brake fluid reservoir under the hood, or it will be fed by the fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. Check for leaks near the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. The clutch should only have air in it if there is a leak or a line has been recently disconnected. As for the car not starting, is it cranking? Make sure you have fuel and spark.

Try to see past the slave hose and bleeder to see if you can see the slave work. Could it be stuck in the depressed position? Have a helper push the pedal while you watch. I think your tranny is broke.

Sounds like the shifter cable,if it is and automatic trans. has broken. look at the trans selector under the truck and see if it moves when you select different gears. If it doesn't its the cable

if its automatic there is no bolt, pull the trans stick and shove a funnel in the tube, make sure its the trans stick u pull and not the oil, also the vehicle should be running when u add, after u top it off run it through all the gears, 5 secs in each gear, so park, reverse, nuetral, drive, 2, 1, then do it again on the way back up to park, then check the fluid again....this is automatic correct? let me know how it goes
