Question about 1994 Chevrolet S-10

1994 Chevy S-10 V6 Vortec engine 4X4 Changing flywheel

I have teh inspection plate off, the cross members loose, the trans lines are off, the drive shafts are off, and I'm stuck there.

Separate the trans from the transfer case
and unbolt the torque converter.
the the bell housing bolts

    if you pull it it makes the job easy.

    but we have done it on a hoist without removing it

Replace complete fuel line assembly in a Silverado z71 1500 4 whl. drive

Some of these drive shafts require removal of cross member to get them out. The fuel lines run up the back side of engine so removing the cross member will allow more room to gain access to the retaining hardware. jack up transmission and transfer case remove cross member lower down for access.

I have a 2007 f150 4x4 with 5.4 litre Front trans seal is leaking do I have to lift the body to remove top trans bolts?

Nope, but you do have to remove both front and rear drive shafts, exhaust Y pipe, transfer case, all wiring that goes to the trans and transfer case, trans fluid lines, starter, torque converter bolts, trans cross member, then the trans and engine should tilt down far enough for you to get to the upper bolts of the bell housing.

E30 clutch replacement

Drop the drive shaft, tranny cross member, transmission and bell housing. Remove the clutch pressure plate and disc and get new set. Use a pilot/clutch alignment tool in the crank shaft pilot bearing/bushing to center the disc and put the new pressure plate on and torque it down. Then put the bell housing, transmission, cross member, and drive shaft back in, and your done.

Remove the Rear Drive Shaft
Remove the Transfer case if 4x4
Disconnect the Shift
Disconnect the Clutch Secondary
Floor Jack under the Transmission
Remove the Cross Member
Remove Bell House Bolts
Pull straight Back
Lower Down
6 Pressure Plate Bolts
Remove 6 Flywheel Bolts

*(Recommend replacing Rear Main Seal)

How to change the clutch , pressure plate , and throout bearing on a 95 ford ranger 4x4 4.0 v6

The 1st step is to loosen your bell housing bolts and drop your starter. The remove your drive shafts the front drive shaft will slide out from the front and then pull it back to the rear. Then you must take your shifter lose from the Trans not the diff. then drop your cross member. Do not take the transfer case lose from the trans. If you can help it. You will then remove the trans. And unbolt the pressure plate. And everything should come off, make sure when you reinstall the clutch plate that you make sure the side that said to fly wheel is against the fly wheel. Make sure you tighten the pressure plate and clutch plate up with you line up tool all the way in and don't be afraid to tighten down on it. Because it isn't easy getting the Trans back up in there. The reassemble in the same order.

best way is to remove cross member 2 bolts each side , two in mount. slide out cross member and remove old mount from bottom of trans , slide member into place, will need jack stands or lift to hold car use jack to trans lift to take pressure off cross member, sometimes exhaust or drive shaft may have to be removed for clearance problems.

I have a 1979 350 tran that sliped out of drive at 110 kph and only have low now can you give me a hint on wich way to start with it

The cause for that could be a low transmission fluid level, a faulty vacuum modulator or no vacuum to the vacuum modulator, A faulty front pump assembly or torque converter, a loose valve body or a blown out valve body gasket, the forward or direct clutch pack has lost line pressure to the clutch pack (could be a plugged up transmission filter) or the frictions are burned up in that clutch pack, or the governor has malfunctioned, usually due to missing or stuck governor weights, or a stuck valve inside of the governor, a small plugged up line filter inside the governor fluid channel under the valve body, and most commonly because of a plastic drive gear at the end of the governor that can crack apart or will have sheared off teeth on the drive gear.

Check the transmission fluid level and inspect the vacuum line to the vacuum modulator for any damage and there should be full intake manifold vacuum to the vacuum modulator. Remove the vacuum line at the vacuum modulator and if transmission fluid drips from out of the vacuum line then the vacuum modulator is faulty and should be replaced to eliminate it as the problem, however there might still be a problem with the governor, the valve body, the forward clutch pack, or the torque converter and front pump assembly.

The valve body can be tightened down and the transmission fluid filter can be replaced, and the valve body and the spacer plate gaskets can be carefully replaced, and also inspect for a small inline screen filter inside of the governor fluid feed chanel if the valve body is removed. (there will be check-balls only experienced mechanics should attempt it).

The torque converter, the front pump assembly, and the forward clutch pack can only be repaired by removing the transmission and except for the torque converter dis-assembling the transmission.

The governor can be removed without too much difficulty and the plastic drive gear should be inspected for any damage to the teeth on the governor drive gear and also the worm gear on the output shaft inside of the governor housing that drives the governor gear. Also check the governor or for any missing or stuck weights on the governor or for a stuck valve inside of the governor.

To remove the governor from the transmission remove the clip over the governor cover and then pry the governor cover off, then the governor will pull straight out of the governor housing. (The transmission cross-member might have to be removed on some vehicles to lower the transmission enough to remove the governor)

How do I drop the transmission and transfer case?

first disconect both front and rear drive shafts . now you should be able to remove the transmission cross member and trans mount. Now you should be able to take out the bolts to the transmission going into the engine.make sure you have a jack under the trans. now the trans should pull away from the engine
