Question about Lexus Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2007 Lexus 460L and have issues with the brakes grabbing randomly - it is so bad that if not wearing a seat belt a person could hit the windshield even at low speeds...Lexus of course has no answer - anyone else experienced this? I'm ready to sell the car....

Hi Deanna, have someone look for rusting or other contamination on the brake pistons of the calipers. If all is good there try replacing the brake discs. (I believe that in the States they are called rotors) Ask for the tightness and fitting of the calipers to be inspected and checked and that the self adjusting mechanism is free and sliding correctly. SOURCE: Does the 2007 Malibu have a timing chain or belt?

Your vehicle is equipped with a timing chain. There is no periodic maintenance schedule fr the timing chain.
If your spark plugs have never been changed, now might be a perfect opportunity to change them. Ensure that you properly gap the plugs before installation. You will find gap specs on the engine information tag/sticker under the hood.

This appaers to be a problem for all or most owners of the Lexus LX470 where the Skid controll comes on at random times grabbing the wheal with no bad road conditions? Has anyone found a answer to fix

Uneven tire wear, uneven tire pressure, wrong application tire, can cause tire grabbing with no bad road condition, with a 175,000 mile you may have gotton a alignment somewhere in its lifetime, and after the alignment, was a zero point calibration performed? To compensate for worn suspension, The zero point calibration if for the steering rate and Yaw sensor.and as for ABS sensor it generates it own signal, and it does wear out at different rate, and this is the main cause of brake grabbing,

2002 toytota camry left front makes noise turning right

This is usually a bad bearing. The tire is tilting to one side and causing uneven wear. The shimmy is because of the slack in the bearing and the contact the front rotor is having with the brake pad. Every time the low side comes around the rotor will hit the brake pad and grab it.

You will need bearings and brake work.

Theres a red circle light on with a person sitting in the seat with seat belt on.light has stayed on for 2 weeks now does it have something to do with the air bags?

No, that is just an indicator that the driver or passenger isn't wearing a seatbelt. If it's on and you are wearing a seatbelt, it just means the light is malfunctioning. A mechanic can fix it for you.

I have a Lexus LS 460-2007 with 45000 miles on it, should it need breaks at this time?

you can't estimate brake wear with mileage, dirver style, conditions such as highway, city, hilly country, all have a different effect on brake wear, i have seen some drivers only get 15,000 miles and others over 100,000, best to get them inspected once a year and replaced when 60 to 70% worn

BRAKE light comes on occasionally - parking brake not engaged.

check your brake fluid it is more then likely low.You might need brakes as when they wear they take up brake fluid as the piston extends to make up for the worn pad material.
