Diagram for heater core replacement on 1986 elcamino

Best to get a repair manual. You will need to remove part or all of the dash, since the heater core is inside the car on the firewall. An Autoparts store would have a repair manual for your car. In The Meantime: 1. Disconnect the heater hoses, at the firewall in the engine compartment. 2. Connect the two hoses together using a piece of tubing and a couple of hose clamps. (This will bypass the heater core, until you can get it fixed.)

What's your problem?a/c vacuum lines inside the cab diagrams

The first, simple step is to check your coolant. If it is low, check the coolant reservoir for leaks. Then add coolant. If that is not the problem, there are other things you can try. The cooling system on these cars are notorious for getting clogged. Flush your radiator and see if that helps. If not, check the two hoses leading through the firewall to the heater core (Under your dash). Run the car with the heater on and see if those hoses get hot. If they do not, the core may be blocked. You can flush the heater core with a water-hose connected to the hoses to the core. Make sure to run water both ways and flush the heater core till the water comes out clean.

If that does not work, check the thermostat. It could be stuck...but more likely it is one of the vacuum hoses or the bender door inside the dash. Check the vacuum hoses first, they are not difficult to replace.

Coolant routing for 91 mazda rx7

Have no idea, but it's not hard to trace the hoses... they basically consist of an out from the water pump, and into the radiator, the out from the radiator and into the thermostat water jacket... then there will be 2 heater core hoses, in and out, which will be located on the firewall to the rare of the engine compartment. But if it's overheating the likely cause wouldn't be clogged hoses, unless of course you are leaking coolant which I'm sure you'd have noticed already. While the car is running and warm feel the coolant hoses, if they feel pressurized and hot then your water pump is likely good, and the likely cause would probably be the thermostat. Easy fix and cheap, too...

1986 buick lasabre heater fan workes, but no heat at all

could be a vacuum switch on the heater hose. The heater hoses are the small hoses ( 1inch, usually black or red) that run from the motor to the inside of the car. They should be warm when the car is up to temperature.

The vac switch controls the water flow to the heater core. If the vac valve is bad or the vac line that feeds it is bad it will not allow water to enter the heater core.

Could be a plugged heater core too.

Check the water level in the radiator as well. If the engine is low on water often the first to go is the heater.

1986 honda prelude heater

Radiator flushes can cause more problems than fix sometimes. Before you go removing the dash first replace the thermostat if you follow the lower radiator hose to the engine this is the thermostat housing.Remove the three 10mm bolts and the housing should come apart. Make sure you put the thermostat in the right way and not upside down. The larger end with the spring goes in first toward the engine and the little vent should be on top. When you fill it back up with a 60/40 mixture of coolant make sure you open the bleed hole on the thermostat housing to get out any air and tighten when coolant comes out with no air bubbles. Start the car and hopefully the heat is better. If not the heater core is the two coolant hoses on the firewall remove both hoses and check the flow with a water hose put the hose to both sides to get out any debris. If the flow is slow and does not improve you will have to pull out the heater core which means removing most of the lower dash pulling out the evaporator if you have A/C. Make sure you get a manual. Hope this helps.
