I have a 1999 Tahoe with 99,000 miles on it. I brought in 2005 with 75,000 mile on it. Since buying another car in 2008, I hardly drive the truck, only during the winter, manly when it snow. The last two winters has been mild, so I never drove it. I would start it up just to let it run for 15 minutes, but that was it. Last year I decide to drive it a bit, and when I start it up it, and put it in drive, it would not move. I let the truck run for 20 minutes, and try again, it moved. I drove it around, and park it. I never drove until last week.

It doesn't need to be rebuilt. That's a stupid answer. When a vehile sits for a very long period of time, tranny fluid can drip down from around the gears and overflow the tranny pan. The pan is made for having tranny fluid in it, and having tranny fluid all up in the transmission and torque converter. When all that flows downward due to gravity, the tranny pan will overflow and a decent amount of fluid will spill over. Then, when one finally goes to use the car, there's not enough tranny fluid in the tranny to operate the transmission. Check your transmission fluid in the method recommended by the car maker, add the appropriate amount, and you might just find that it all works great again.

Also, don't ever let a car sit for months and months without driving it. That's the worse thing one can do to a car. Don't just start it up once in a while, drive it one day at least every month during your regular daily routine.

SOURCE: 2001 Impala 3.8L. Initial start

It might as simple as a loose shift lever at the transmission or it could actualy be the transmission itself (splipping clutch pack). I would have the transmission checked and serviced if you haven't done so already.

Why does my 1995 mazda 626 slip in and out of gear when im driving. it does it at all speeds and in all gears.

This usually occurs when the internal parts are worn and there is slack between parts to where they can not stay in mesh, If the bearing inside are worn then the shaft that the gears are on can move causing the transmission to jump out of gear. If you have an automatic it could also be due to the clutches being worn and slipping or the transmission pump, torque converter, or valve body having a problem with leakage or fluid control.

My transmission is slipping

The clutch lining worn out n the lining powder stuck on the transmission filter so transmission fluid pass through the filter clogged.. Only way is to repair the transmission or replace the whole transmission.

Not to sound condescending, but have you checked to see if you are low on transmission fluid?

there is a limp mode but I doubt if that is the problem
It indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid is faulty
run the fault codes to confirm if that is it or a faulty TCM
check wiring around the transmission

My 2000 Grand Cherokee LAREDO, V6, automatic doesn't catch when you put it in R to reverse. It basically 'jump' into REVERSE gear either after a few seconds, or sometimes as much as 60...

There could be a few things wrong. The reverse slip could be a worn sevro. the slipping on shifhting gears could be seals in the solenoid package. Try some transmission additive, this will recondition the seals. this could take care of both problems. Tranx, Lucas make good additives. There are other things in the transmission that could cause this, but for $10.00 it's worth a shot. I used it my truck for slipping three years ago and still no problems.

Page 63. It seems as though you have your transmission in Manual Program. Normal driving should use Adaptive program.

Or, your transmission is slipping.

VW Golf 3 jumping out of gears

Sounds like a stripped reverse gear. And for the second gear probally need a new gear (1st 2nd) and the syncros with a new hub. If too much metal from the gears has already made it's way around in the bearings through the transmission oil you might be looking at a new transmission. The Golf 3 generation had many problems with reverse gears. Sorry to be the one to tell you.
