Engine light,

99% of the time, the gas cap wasn't tightened properly, or is leaking. Make sure you twist it tight and it clicks a few times. If the "Check Engine" light stays on after a few days, buy a new gas cap. Again it may take a few days to clear.

Engine light on 2005 yukon

{: ) An engine light indicates a fault has been detected on your emission systems. If the fault is current, it will stay on, or even flash. There are times when it will stay on even if the fault is not there anymore. That's why cycling the ignition on and then off helps in clearing the engine light. If it clears, that means the the fault has been corrected and cleared. However, if the engine light comes back again, then there's really a problem. It can be caused by several things, that's why a scan tool is recommended to determine the codes that have been set by a module. These codes aid in quicker diagnosis and repairs.

I heard a pop as I was driving and the engine light came on and subsequently started to flash. I changed the plugs and cleared the codes. Two days later, the light come on and started to flash again, and I...

First before going into it that deep, what year and model? Get the codes instead of just clearing them and let me know. I can advise you on how to proceed without throwing parts at it.

How do you get the service engine soon light to go off?

on most vehicles you you have to plug into computer and clear the code. you can also buy little plug in module to clear check engine light also. the light is on because the computer picked up a code from a sensor for a reason. if problem is not repaired its only a matter of time before it picks up code and here comes MR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT again. A local auto zone parts store or garage will do this most for free.

I have a 2000 landcruiser and the check engine, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF. The vehicle is running good. Can you help?

It seems that any time the check engine light comes on with this vehicle, the VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights will also come on all at the same time...

The first thing I would do is go to an Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and have them pull the fault codes from the computer. It's usually a free service, and 'some' of the people are knowledgable enough to point you in the right direction, as far as what caused the light(s) to come on in the first place. In some cases, simply having them clearing the fault codes will fix the problem, and you may not see it come up again, at least not for a long time.

Recently, can you remember driving the vehicle with the gas cap off? That will set a code. (Easy fix again, by clearing it.)

Nevertheless, see what code was set and go from there. I'll be happy to help you solve your problem if this doesn't cure it!

Take care and I hope this helps! :)

Check engine is on

This could be anything. Take the car to an auto parts store and ask them to run a diagnostics test on it. This will bring up any and all codes for any/all units that may be causing the check engine light to come on.

In my experience, in most cases it's the O2 sensors, or a relay.

Once you have found and replaced the unit(s) that were the cause; the check engine light may come on again as the computer is still "getting used to" the new part(s). Simply have the codes "cleared" at the auto parts store, or wait a couple of weeks, as the light will eventually go off and stay off.

Another cause of the light coming on is disconnecting the battery multiple times within a period of time (serval times in a day/week etc). If this is the case, have the codes cleared and wait until the light comes on again (if it does) and then have the diagnostics test done to determine further causes.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

How to Clear a Check Engine Light and Reset the Computer.

you can use the scanner to clear the computer or even disconnect the battery for a minute or two then reconnect it but if the light comes back it needs to be fixed to keep the light off. just fixing the problem won't turn the light off

instead of cacelling the engine light , next time take it in and have the fault codes read
