1987 nissan d21 has no brakes after changing pads

Since changing pads i have changed master,booster,rear wheel cyl,shoose,rebuilt the cals on front still no brakes

    i did bench bleed the master and there is no proportioning valve and no to the abs

SOURCE: Fiat Uno Pacer - Brake Booster not assist braking

it could be that the master cylinder is bad or the brake booster is bad also check the vacum hose going to the brake booster if it has a hole in it it will lose pressure and make the engine lose rpms

SOURCE: Brakes are still spongy after changing the pads, one caliper, and master cylinder. bled front brakes.

I just went to Brake Masters this morning and had them replace the Master Cylinder since I was experiencing the pedal very spongy and going to the floor. When they replaced the Master Cylinder and they gave me back the car, the brakes were still spongy and going to the floor. I addressed this to them and they took another look at it, but when I took it for a second time, the brakes were extremely spongy. It was almost like they gave me back my car in worst condition to when I brought it in. Can you help?

probably none of the above
have the brake master cylinder replaced first
then work on the pins that allow the calliper body to self center

Fleetwood problem


Pretty normal to not be able to lock the brakes without the assistance of the booster, it'll take a lot of pedal pressure without it. It's also normal for the pedal to feel harder without the booster, this goes for any car/truck with power brakes. Try it with any other car you have and you'll see.

I've worked on several old Cadis but don't recall what year they started using front disc. If it's been changed from drum to disc you'll likely need a different proportioning valve and possibly a different master to get them to work right. Talk to the seller and ask if the brake feel changed when they replaced the master and if they changed any other parts.

Have you tried to bleed the brakes,it sounds like you have air in the system. I would try bleeding the brakes first ,start with the wheel farthest from the master cyl. The right rear,left rear,right front left front. If that does'nt help check the master cyl and brake booster.

I would go with not bled correctly

The booster should hold up with a hard pedal until
you start the engine, then vacuum causes it to move
down when pressing on the brake

your probably going to have to bleed the entire system.1st try & bleed the master cyl.
basicly the same as you would bleed the front/rear brakes. pump pedal & hold while someone
loosen the brake line on the master cyl. after m/c is bleed move to r/r,l/r,r/f,l/f wheels in
that order. if you have abs brakes & you got air in the pump a scan tool may be needed
to bleed properly.

I have a brake problem, replaced front and rear and the master cyl. still get metal to metal sounds. brakes fail after used for awhile. After sitting for 5 min. not running the brakes are back. HELP


recheck the entire braking system, look for bad wheel bearings, make sure calipers are free floating, rear brakes are adjusted, parking brake releases ok, vacuum booster holds ,

i had a problem once that the rear drums were turned to far out and caused me to have to pump and also have a spongy pedal....just a thought
