SOURCE: 100000 mile service checks/replacement parts on a 2000 BMW 528i

If your talking about what would a dealership change, it generally consists of a tune up, including spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil change, pcv valve, and fuel filter. Thats also usually when they want to replace the timing belts. There may be one or two other things specific to BMW, but generally thats what you can expect.

actualy the light is for the ASR or ESP sysytem which ever you anme it and it senses if one or more of the tires is rotating in a defrent speed frome the other tires which implements that your car is slepping and the car will lower the engin power to avoide losing controle of the car and at the same time it uses the brake system to make the car keep on track so if is is happining all the time you should check the tires if not the maybe you have a problem with the sensores.

My 1997 bmw 528i wll not start. it turns over. but if i sprayed starting fluid it starts. i put in a new fuel pump. still will not strat. help

Since it is confirmed that there is no ignition unless there is fuel in the cylinder, it is possible that the CALIBRATION of the FUEL PUMP for the right pressure and also the INJECTORS must be checked. Since the fuel pump was replaced and is assmumed to be working with right pressure then the fuel injectors seems to be the suspect, remove check or replace.
Thank you for Using Fixya.

Bmw 530d e39 2002 car will not start, turns over fine but will not fire, bit of easy start and starts after about 5 - 10 sec cranking, once running, engine runs smooth and powerful, as soon as you turn it...

Most probably its a low fuel pressure related problem.Get the fuel pressure checked. If its low then this is faulty fuel pump and clogged fuel filter issue.the other possibilities are,-----

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. Also this problems are related to faulty spark plug. Check the spark at spark plugs when you start the car. Do you notice any spark. Actually you should see. If in case there is no spark then it's a spark plug problem. Also the coil pack gives power to spark plug. So check the voltage at coil pack. It will show 12 volt.If there is no voltage noticed at coil pack then its faulty coil pack that has to be replaced. If all the possible options checked out ok then check the car starter. The starter gets power from battery to start the care. If the starter is faulty then it will not let the car to start. Also check and confirm that there is fuel in the car. If it very low fuel then in some cases this causes the problem. Also check and confirm that fuel pump is functioning properly and the fuel filter is not clogged. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gage and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start. ---------- This troubleshooting tips will help you to solve the problem.Thanks.Helpmech.

My 2002 bmw 530d turns over but refuses to start. fuel pump is working ok and fuel is exiting ok from filter to engine.

First, just because ther is fuel present, doesn't mean that there is enough fuel pressure present to fire your injectors. The fuel pressure specification on an M54 Engine is Bar 3.5 at a delivery rate of 2.25 Liters Per Minute. (or in U.S. terms, 51 PSI at 0.6 Gallons Per Minute) This must be measured with a gauge to make sure it is correct before determining if there is enough fuel, or is the fuel pump is working properly.

Second, did you check for spark at the spark plugs?

If you've never replaced the timing belt or chain,That would be my first thing I'd check is the Timing belt or chai, just aline the timing marks on crankshaft and then look at the position on the distributor to see if it's pointed in the #1 firing position .

1 more thing you had left

is check your sparkplug & ignition system
is it ok or not ,proper wired if not than clean up that connectors & than do again with checking your battery with another same model if started than its 100% fault about your ignition sysytem coil ,

go to your service center they can solve this prob easily after all,
i hope so you dont have to go to center you ca do it yourself,as i had,
