Power seat lift problem

The up/down power seat lift no longer works. I assume the motor is blown that controls this operation. Anyway I can raise the seat manually? Any ideas how much this repair would cost?

I dont believe its that. However I will check it. It started having problems about a week ago, it sounded like a gear was broken and or struggling. Now, when I press the button, theirs a little click and then nothing happens.

    Thanks

My 2000 Alero the power seat is stuck up as high as it goes. When i push the power button you can hear the motor running but the seat dont move. Can anyone tell me what is wrong Thank you

  • pastorshawn May 12, 2009

I too have the seat stuck in the highest position.  The motor is running when you pull it up or push down but the position of the seat does not move. I have to think that the gear is stripped or something like that...

    Please advise

Have you thought to check the fuse in the fuse panel. This may or may not be the solution however a good place to start.

The 1st thing to check is the switch function, u will need a test light for that, if the switch is sending power to the seat motor then indeed the motor is defective, but in most cases the switch is the problem, u can't buy pars for a seat transmission, they are sold as a unit, about $400-500

Which fuse controls driver window

good question. (am i to assume all others work perfectly
and assume the driver window is dead going up and down
and is silent and there is no ICE on said window?
did you scan the PCM first to see if there are door controller errors? (that is always first. if not, then hard way below)
some cars have fuses. others hidden circuit breakers.
or is something else.
i have the 2010 WK (less your extra seats) grand cherokee
and full documents on it,
so what can cause this,
well sure..
1: power to the system lost.
2: controls bad.
3: motor dead in door. bad.
4 window just jammed for any reasons.

now what your car actually has
the power starts at the battery and goes
to the Run accessory relay , this must work then the CB. next
must be ok. but if it is open(or bad) all doors fail. so.......????
got 12vdc at pin 1 C3 below, sure you do...

25929456-hetu3otge4ewu0eo3szpgk2x-2-1.jpg this power runs the door window driver board.(and locks)
the power and ground must be ok to said board of lots of other things fail, locks and other windows.
if you press driver window up or down?
the motor below, receives, 12vdc across pins 1 and 2.
does it? if yes, then the problem is step 3 or 4 above
bad motor , or jammed, to solve jam we operate the window by hand (door cards (skins) off, motor removed)

25929456-hetu3otge4ewu0eo3szpgk2x-2-6.jpg the controller sees you do that. and then
operates the motor. with 12vdc.

My power third row seat don't work, I tested the motors and they work fine when power directly. When I measure the voltage at the connectors I get about +/- 10 volts, from any of the 4 switches. I verified...

Your missing something's G-404 has nothing to do with it !
Seats - Third Row
The third row seat:
  • is three-passenger seat.
  • a 60/40 bench seat.
  • folds down for more cargo area.
  • has optional power fold down seats.
Third Row Power-Fold Seat
CAUTION: To prevent possible damage to the third row seat or the safety belts, make sure that the safety belts are not fastened when moving the seat to the load floor position.
CAUTION: Make sure that no objects such as books, purses or briefcases are on the floor in front of the third row seats or on the seat cushion before lowering the backrest(s).
The third row power-fold seat consists of the following electrical components:
  • right third row seat relay.
  • left third row seat relay.
  • right power-fold seat motor.
  • left power-fold seat motor.
  • right front third row seat switch (if equipped).
  • left front third row seat switch (if equipped).
  • right rear third row seat switch.
  • left rear third row seat switch.
For the third row power-fold seat to operate, a shared ground is supplied by the body security module (BSM) to both of the power-fold seat relays, enabling the seats to then be moved by pressing one of the third row power-fold seat switches. The third row power-fold seat operates only when the vehicle is in PARK and the liftgate glass, liftgate door or any entry door must be open.
The third row power-fold seat motors transfer movement to a drive gear assembly to raise and lower the seat backrest. The power-fold seat motors rotate a short drive cable which is connected to the drive gear assembly.
The relay's are located in Aux. relay box #2

Heated seats and cruise don't work

Jeep WJ !
you only have 2 choices
buy the fsm, or find it here. below or use alldata.com , it's all there.
or check all fuses.

each fuse has many loads. so test them all or read the FSM..
all cars. made.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

lets see what is there. fuse 23 blown kills cruise. and brake lamps dead. or PCM in limphome and that can kill cruise,
is CEL out running? if not , CRUISE can be suspended for GOOD reasons, (safety) and more on newer cars...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
now seats. not the power seat motors. but heaters.
both sides, dead, bottom and back side?
both sides, have a switch, that the BCM watches.
the BCM controls the seat heat.
above 105F ambient this system shuts down.
in the jeep dealer he connects the DRB and sees whats wrong fast.
if the switch LED are dead key on, the fuse is blown.
are yours? dead? (page 8g-5 , fsm)"heated systems"
if the fuses are good, and the lamp glows, at seat it will take
a dealer DRB tool to find true cause or all day with an ohm meter
per above heated systems pages.

here is how seat heat works, it not like a 1995 car.
the BCM watches that seat switch
it sees (monitors) what you do , then sends (by digital COMMAND via PCI bus to) SM.
power (12vdc) to the heater with the "SEAT MODULE"doing the heavy lifting (drivers)
THE SM drives the seat.
black org. wire to diver back heater. and white to bottom heater
so ill assume the SM lost power, (wild guess)
i can not find the fuse that runs SM module.
but if the LED is out, then the fuse is blown and gee, that is easy to find, just looking.
i dont have a searchable FSM, to scan for SM fuse.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, extended cab, automatic truck.......PROBLEM, the drivers side has a power seat, it will not move in any direction and the passenger side front and rear power windows...

How to diagnose this problem ? Viewing wiring diagrams to see what all is invovled in these electrical circuit's , check power supply's an ground connection's using a DMM - digital multimeter !
What type power seat's ? does it have memory ,heated an cooled etc ?
Power Seats System Description and Operation
There are 2 options of power seat systems available in full size trucks. The first is 6 way driver and passenger power seats without memory. The second is an 8-way driver seat plus 4-way lumbar with memory, heat and optional cool function. While the passenger has 8-way power seats with heat and optional cool function. For the driver memory seat operation, refer to Memory Seats Description and Operation. Power seats without memory are completely controlled through the power seat switch. Battery voltage is supplied to the power seat switch through the power seat circuit breaker. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the power seat switch ground circuit. When a power seat switch is pressed to an active state the switch contact is closed to the battery voltage supply circuit. Each seat adjuster motor is controlled by the power seat switch through 2 motor control circuits. The seat adjuster motors are bidirectional and the direction of adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the adjuster motor control circuits is switched to battery voltage while the other remains grounded.

If it has memory seat's there is a control module !
Battery voltage is supplied to the driver seat module through a 25 A circuit breaker. The driver seat module supplies the seat adjuster switch assembly with a battery positive reference voltage. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the adjuster switch common circuit.
Both right side windows have a seperate power supply from the left side window's ,has RT DOORS circuit breaker CB1 - 25amp. location left instrument panel fuse block . Circuit breaker's very rarely fail .Do the door lock's work on that side of the vehicle ? The windows won't work with their own switche's ?
The DDS controls the passenger window through a GMLAN message to the PDS. When a power window switch is activated in the up or down positions the PDS supplies power and ground to the window motor control circuits to drive the window motor in the required direction. Prior to activating a power window motor the PDS will supply the control circuit with a low current bias voltage in order to determine that a short to ground condition does not exist, and during window motor operation the PDS continues to monitor the motor current to verify proper window motor operation. (Scan tool support is available for this system)
Check PDM fuse 4 15 amp ,this supply's B+ voltage to the DOORLOCK/WINDOW switch passenger side . Check for broken wires inside the flex boot from the body to the passenger door .

Tailgate window lift motor 1986 suburban

I assume your motor is out? These old suburbans will get to where the switch that wont let you roll them down when they are open sometimes is the problem, also the switch, and the switch you use with the key in the tailgate itself, also fuse, The motors also have an overload protecter that is not making contact from corrosion. I have many times been able to beat on the inside door panel while holding the switch and made them start working again, But back to you question, remove interior covering, usually screws and plastic clips, then locate the motor, look and see if you can detach the regulator from the glass. If you can unbolt them. I have had this problem many years ago, but I can't remember exacty how the regulator in in the tailgate, it may be riveted, or it may be bolted. I am assuming you have made sure with test light or vom the motor is getting power, IF it is try applying power to it and tapping it with a wrench or something. It might make it start working. I offer free advice for everyone and will help anyway I can so if this info is helpful in any way, my compensation is my rating.
