A Whine from the fron of the Engine. 2001 Frontier 4cyl.

Whine gets louder or higher in pitch when engine is reved up! I think it from the Power Steering pump. But it sounds like it's coming from the fan area. Any ideas?

Hi Have you crawled under the vehicle and personally inspected your exhaust line from manifold to tail pipe? The roaring sound usually occur when there is a hole in the exhaust line. I had it happen to my forester before. A hole half the size of a dime made my subaru sound like my old 74 chevy pickup.

That absolutely sounds like an axle (wheel) bearing. Jack up that corner of the truck and grab the top and bottom of the wheel, and shake like crazy. If you have any play whatsoever, it's a sign of a bad bearing (although you could have a bad one and not have any play - it would only mean the bearing isn't worn badly enough to cause looseness in the wheel).

You should be able to remove the axles without opening the diff up. If the axles have c-clips or snap rings on the ends inside the diff, you can usually get the axles out by dismounting them from the hubs and getting them free of all attachment except the diff, and then use a large flat-tip screwdriver as a pry bar. Use it right where the axle body mates to the diff, and lever it while you pull/yank/shake/swear at the axle, and you'll manage to pop the axle out of the diff. Sometimes it takes some time and profanity, but so far it's worked for me everytime.

or It is indeed your Belt. You can get some Fan Belt Dressing from any Wal-Mart and that will take Care of it "TEMPORARILY". If you want to "FIX" it you are going to have to do some Mechanic Work. There is a Tensioner on Serpentine Belts that has to be Tightened every now and then. It is going to be the Roller that the Belt goes around that has a Big Roller on TOP that the Belt does NOT Go on and one hooks to it Below that the Belt Does go Around. There is a Bolt head in the Middle of one of these Rollers, Get a Socket and Wratchet and see how loose the Tensioner is. If it is Really loose you are gonna need a New one or Possibly even a New Belt. These Items don't cost all that much and if you are going to be Keeping that Kia, Is a small price to pay to keep it goin!

Possibly the fan belt, or the charger belt, a belt possibly? if you open the hood and listen and try to find where the sound is coming from.

How to troubleshoot a high pitched whine in the right fron side of my Nissan Maxima 2004

Could be one of the belts slipping or worn out. Might even be the water pump bearing. Does the whine increase/decrease as you rev? Whine louder if you suddenly accelerate?

High pitch whine or whistle

if it was front main seal, the belts all had to come off to acess this..as a result the timing belt may have been replaced by them and put on too tight which will whine as the engine runs..this will get less intense as the new belt gets stretched and will be gone within a few hundred miles..as long as the belt was installed to specs there should be no problem other than a noise which shouldnt last long repost if it keeps on or something else happens..good luck..

I have a 4.0L V6. I have been repalcing the belt about once a year because of wear issues. Now I have a high pitched whine that coincided with the last belt replacement. I think it might be a bearing???...

you may need the tensioner idler pulley that is in the middle of the engine. we have some issues with bearing failure/noise. removed the belt and make sure that the noise that you are hearing is gone

High Pitch whine during acceleration

well it could be a few things but most likely you belt is sliping. That is very common and happens to all cars over the years if the belt is not changed. You should check it out. The belt could be bad but it could also be a bad pully. If you dont know what these parts are look them up on google. its very simple
