When driving on level roads my truck runs fine, However, Once my truck warms up and while in a uphill climb my truck acts as though it is out of gas. Has anyone else ever had this experience or have any knowledge of this problem?

Have a 1987 Dodge Ram 50, 2.6L. After the motor has warmed up and I start on a uphill climb my truck cuts out like it is out of gas and my truck is almost full of gas. Any suggestions or thoughts would be much appreciated

It's happens once the motor warms up and the truck gets strain put on it like going uphill, It does fine as long as it is on level road - regardless the distance.

Have you ever tried carburetor cleaner in the gas, to see if that helps. If engine is cold (just started) & you head up a hill what happens ? Not trying to drive you crazy, just trying to narrow it down. That is carburated is it not?

Mileage on engine would help too.

It sounds as though you could have a dirty fuel filter, or a compression leak. is there any smoke(blue or black?) are all of your plugs tight?

I have a 1987 ram 50 with the 2.7l Mitsubishi g54b engine. I had the same problem and it was a restricted passage in the carb. after rebuilding the carb and extensive cleaning and blowing compressed air through every passage it was fixed.

1987 Dodge Ram 50 wont start and no compression after it over heated

Bad news more than likely you warped the head and blew the head gasket. remove the head (the one with no compression) take to a large parts store or machine shop and have them check it for warp. If it a warped steel head they can plane it down. If its a warped almum. head you might want to get a new or good used one. save yourself some over heading problems down the road.

I have a 1987 Dodge Ram 50 2wd 2.0L carb. , when i go above 35mph with throttle full pressed it starts to lose power and the vehicle starts to move back an forth, front to back, like it maybe running out...

well, i assume you did a compression check and have the plugs gapped properly? Okay then, this might not be what you want to hear but, disconnect the fuel lines, install a low pressure electric fuel pump(between 3 and 10 psi one) and install a variable pressure regulator, set it at 4psi and drive the truck. still need more power move to 5psi, adjust untill your happy.
