Tried new cam and cranc sencors, power and grounds to ecm ok, customer saues boosted a car ran for 15 min. than died. did not revers polarity on battery,

Let me get this straight, you took your Nissan to the NISSAN dealer (who has extensive data and resources) and they said you needed an engine due to the timing had jumped and you declined due to the $6500.00 price. So you took it to the independent guy (local mechanic) that is guessing and throwing parts at it and most likely making it worse because you only needed an ECM that the dealer said was ok, 2 cam sensors and 3 coils (but hey its cheaper than an engine). So now you have a used ECM that doesn't belong in the vehicle that you most likely didn't need and are awaiting the correct one from Nissan. You now have or will have 3 working ECMs, 4 good cam sensors and nine good coils in a van that will still not run. Ok and now you think that the independent guy (local mechanic) doesn't know what he's doing and you want to know if anybody knows a good mechanic. Whatever gave you that impression?? I know now what the problem is.....it's you. You tried to save money but it didn't work. Hopefully you didn't do any further damage but who knows. Get your money back from the local mechanic and take your van to the dealer to get the engine you need before someone else takes you for a ride or damages your vehicle further.

you have a bad ground wire connection find where your ground wires go into the frame and clean the connections on them the same thing happened to my 93 buik regal and i had it checked and thats all it was.

95-97 Maximas had a problem where condensation from the A/C would accumulate in the a/c evaporator case from the drain becoming restricted or blocked, When this would occur, condensation would drip onto the ECM and a problem would develop with misfire and/or starting. I would look at the ECM where the harness connects to it for corrosion problems. If you find it, there is a chemical spray which can be used to clean the terminals and/or you can clean them, although it is time consuming and difficult to due because of how small the terminals are. After things are cleaned up, lightly coat the connections with a dielectric grease. This will prevent electrolysis.I believe you can buy these at Radio shack and possibly at an automotive parts supplier.
Also a drop in voltage during the cranking phase will cause a weak spark. Your ignition is what pulses the injectors. It takes a minimum of 9.6 volts, but ideally you want at least 10.5 or more during the cranking phase if you want to get a spark worth anything. Check the voltage on the primary side of the coil while cranking the engine.

Are you saying the starter motor won't crank the engine?
Was it working ok before you worked on it?
Make sure battery has a full charge, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
Are there any applicable trouble codes? If you fully obd1 compliant, you should be able to check some codes, yourself.
Your cam and crank sensor share ref voltage and ground, I'd want to check that.

Runs good, after 30 mins stalls no injector pulse and hard to start.after 10-15 mins starts again, spark OK. changed fuel pump,distributor. Same


run the fault codes and check for problem ECM
There is an electronic component failure in the injector circuit that when over heats , shuts that injector circuit down
try replacing the ECM with a known good unit

Intermittent no start or stall at idle. normal fuel press and constant spark but no injector pulse


check wiring from the cam sensor to the ECM and the wiring from the ECM to the injector harness connector under the hood and at the injectors. also check the injectors for excessive resistance.

There is voltage on all three wires because there is no ground, check with engine cranking. The two wires that go to computer are grounds for coils. You could probably use a noid lite to check for pulse, engine cranking. That should be safe, between primary voltage and one of the grounds. There several ways to visually check for a pulse. If your digital multimeter has a min/max setting, that should work. You could use an l.e.d. but you would have to use resistor.
You changed computer, was it new?

At only 30,000? This is not good advertising for Aveo! At those no-pulse times, have you checked for power at an injector connector with key on? With a new ecm, I would not expect the injector ground circuit to be the problem, so maybe you could trace the injector drive circuit back from a wiring diagram. The injectors get power to them when the key is on. They only pulse when the ecm grounds them. good luck, ken.

My 1991 pontiac sunbird runs fifteen mins then dies ive changed fuel pump, fuel pressure reg. , ecm coil, fuel filer after i try and start it back up i have no fire n no gas??????????


The first things I need to know are which engine do you have, and what have you actually tested so far ?
If it has no power or ground pulse to the injectors and no spark, the problem would be something that controls both such as a crank or cam sensor. Or a relay. Or the ignition module. And so on.

did you replace the knock sensor from the old one to the replacement one. ? double check the sensors are the correct ones fitted to your original engine are on the new replacement, also check the connection plugs, sometimes these cannot connect fully if have become weak.

Sounds like a failing crank or cam sensor; does the car have spark? Remove the main lead from the coil and position near a grounded piece of clean metal, place it @ 1/4" away and crank engine over for 2-3 seconds and watch for spark; if nothing it will give you some direction. If there is spark check for fuel injector pulse; rent some NOID lights from Autozone or such and unplug one injector and plug in NOID light and crank over for 3-4 seconds if you get a pulse of light the injector pulse should be ok. Next area I'd check is fuel pump, you'll need to check for fuel pressure, some special tools needed here plus your working with gasoline, take care of no spark/no flame. You may be able to listen for your fuel pump...turn off items such as fan, radio and such, make it quiet crank over motor for 2-3 seconds listen for a click (that would be your fuel pump relay and when you let go of your key you should hear the fuel pump run for just a brief second, I expect pump in the tank.
One of these I hope should get you in the proper direction.

1993 grand am no spark


You said you changed the ecm module, is that the ecm or the ignition module. Do you have access to a scanner to check cranking rpm? That way you can test the new crank sensor and the wiring and the ignition module.
