Depends on the vehicle. On most you have to drop the fuel tank. A very few have an access panel either in the trunk or under the back seat.

Where is fuel pump located and how hard to get it out?

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. Some vehicles have an access panel beneath the rear seat in order to replace the pump without dropping the fuel tank. If yours does, it is a simple plug and play repair. Simply remove the access panel, below will be the top of the pump with the electrical connection and fuel lines running to it, remove those, then unbolt the pump, remove, and reinstall is the reverse of removal. Hope that saves you a couple hundred $$$

The pumps are installed inside your fuel tank; since liquid fuel cannot blow up, this is the best location for installation. In order to replace it you must drop the tank and get at the pump from the top. I would check fuse #28, which is the fuse to the fuel pump relay before pulling the pump. Otherwise, you would be wise to consider the amount of work involved in dropping the tank. It requires removing the bolts from the straps, pulling the fuel lines, removing the gas inlet, removing the connectors and then you get to the pump. Let me know if you want to go this route and I will do my best to give you step by step direction to remove the pump.

Fuel pump is bad. need to replace it. do i need an eletcric fuel pump or a regular fuel pump..i hve a 2002 chrysler sebring conv. LX 2.7L

All vehicles with fuel injection use a high-pressure pump mounted inside the gas tank. This is virtually all vehicles built since about 1990. I don't know about this particular vehicle, some have an access panel above the tank that allows you to remove the pump without dropping the tank, others don't. Dropping a nearly full tank of gas is no easy task. Try asking your auto parts store or the Chrysler parts counter if this car has such an access panel.

By the way, the pump is immersed in the fuel, and uses the fuel to cool the pump. Never let your tank get below 1/4 full to reduce overheating of the pump, which shortens its life. Occasionally is OK, but running below 1/4 tank on a regular basis will cut the life of the pump significantly.

Where is the access panel for the fuel pump

There is no access panel for the fuel pump- You have to drop the tank to get at it!

1. Syphon any gas from the tank

2. Prop the gas tank with a support

3. Loosen the tank straps and fill hose strap then disconnect the straps on one side

3. Drop the tank

4. Disconnect the fuel lines and wiring harness

5. Pull the tank from under the vehicle, turn the pump seal counter clockwise then remove the pump- Careful not to damage the O-ring gasket as you may need to use it again because the new gasket may not fit properly

Install in reverse order

Where is fuel pump located? and how do i remove it? do i have to drop fuel tank?

Unfortunetly for you.. the fuel pump is located inside the tank. When you drop the tank to access the fuel pump/sending unit make sure you don't let it slam down on the ground, this could dammage your fuel lines. They didn't start making access panels in vehicles until recently.

Good Luck!

How do i get to the fuel pump on a 1997 s10 blazer

Unless there is an access panel inside the vehicle above the fuel pump, you will have to remove the fuel tank in order to access the pump. Do not forget to replace the fuel filter. Partially clogged fuel filter is one of the causes of a failed fuel pump.
