2006 Chevy Trailblazer - winding noise

I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and over the last few months I have been hearing a winding noise similar to a power steering noise. It gets lauder when I press the accelerator regardless if I am in gear or sitting in neutral.

Would you suggest replacing the power steering fluid?

Wining noise from engine that has benn getting louder. Noise will increase when engine rpms are increased. Suspect pully or alternator.

I went to the dealer to check on the price for the idle pulley and they said that was waht the problem was. The quote from them was $99 for Labor and $38 for the pulley..Solution $18.00 at the parts store and 20 min from my hubby and it is fixed. The only problem with the pulley form the auto parts is that the original washer won't fit in the hole so we had to but a seperate washer. Runs great now I just have to find a solution to the gas gauge and fuel sensor.

You probably have a idler pulley or alternator with a bearing going bad. remove belt and spin the pulleys and see if you see one that feels rough

I have a 06 Chevy trailblazer and the 4wd/auto switch is gone and it has been jumping from 4wd to auto . What do I do to fix it, I don't think a new switch is the fix

Most likely the control module assembly is the problem. It can be located under the dash and sometimes behind the passenger kick panel cover. You will normally hear a click noise when you engage the 4x4 and this click noise will indicate the location of the controller. You may not be able to access 4x4 hi if the lights are flashing but 4x4lo usually works.

Brake light problem - if bulbs and fuses (#34 and #43 in rear fuse panel) are good, then only other possibility are the circuit boards where all the tail lights are located.

Noise coming from rear is the mode control actuator in the rear HVAC unit, it is trying to move a stuck blend door.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer makes THUD when accelerating

Check your coolant level, low coolant or air in your cooling system will make a "thud"noise in your heater core when the engine is under load from acceleration. The coolant rushes in to the heater core where the air pocket is trapped and then your hear the noise.
Start with the simple and make sure your coolant level is correct and then try to purge the system to remove the air out for your coolant system.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

You've got a ground problem (lack thereof) somewhere. Will be a lot of wire tracing/test for your average Joe, should probably just see a mechanic.

One common reason is a loose heat shield. Weld may have broken. You may be able to bend it enough to stop it rattling against whatever it's coming in contact with.

2002 Chevy TrailBlazer Service Engine light is on. The car gives off a loud wind sound when pressing the accelerator. The engine runs smooth but less power.

This one is easy. The clutch fan is not disengaging. Mine does the same thing after it has idled a while but then will release (wind noise stops) after getting up to speed.
