You need to locate the blower motor. May be on the passenger side of this vehicle. IF you need location let me know I will dig it up.

    So the blower works. Meaning you feel air coming from the vents it is just not hot air. If this is correct it can be multiple things. Is the coolant full all air bubbles out of system. The heater core could be clogged. You could have a defective thermostat which is some cases can fail in the the closed position and not allow the antifreeze to circulate through the system properly. Let me know.

The heat and cooling air flow is controlled by small plastic vacumn lines inside the dashboard. The main vacumn suppy for this comes from the engine vacumn lines. So - Find what you are missing in your vacumn lines.

Why is my heater blowing cold


Most likely it is the heater control valve that shifts air from blowing across your heater core to your air conditioner core.

If your fan works and your car is fairly new..meaning your heater core isn't dirty and full of craap...then it is the climate cotrol valve.
If you are lucky, it might be a thermostat that is bad and blocking hot water from entering your heater core. Bottom line, if hot water doesn't circulate thru that little heater core, you won't get heat.
You might be able to look under the hood and grab the hot water lines that go thru the firewall and feed your heater core. If they feel cold to the touch after engine has warmed up, then you aren't getting circulating water to the heater core. If they feel nice and warm, then the heater core is fine, but your climate control valve has closed off the fan that blows across the core to disperse heat into the cabin

sounds like your blower motor is OK so either the hot water is not getting through the heater core, or the air is not being routed across the heater core. If the hoses or core are blocked, that would do it or if an air door is not allowing the air to the core.

Hopefully it won't come to core removal, but this video should illustrate what is going on. There are also videos for unplugging the core. good luck

Heater is not blowing hot air


How old is the coolant in your car? If you haven't changed the coolant in a couple of years, you may have sediment build-up in the heater core that is restricting full circulation in the core and preventing good heat output. Feel both hoses at the firewall that go to the heater core. Are both equally hot when the engine is warmed up and heater controls on high? If only one is hot, and the other lukewarm, the core is partially plugged. Pull off both hoses there and run a garden hose at low volume backward through the core. If not sure what is backward flow just run the garden hose through both openings and see if you can remove any sediment or blockage.
If both hoses are hot, the core may be circulating fine, and the problem may be in the heater case's doors not opening fully- I think that would be the temperature blend door. When heater controls on full heat, the door should be fully open to let blower air pass across and through the heater core to pick up heat and pass on through to vents.

I have 2000 astro van and I'm not getting heat, I changed thermo stat and flushed heater core. Still no heat, whats the next step?


Feel your heater hoses. If both are hot, the core is circulating. If only one is hot-poor or no circulation of the core.
If the heater core is circulating, the temperature blend door may not be working to let blower air pass across the heater core, and into the vents. If vacuum operated, watch the vacuum valves as you move heater controls-you may spot the problem. Check that the vacuum line from the engine to the control switch is working and still connected. If not operated by vacuum, the controls may have cables to the heater case or may be electrically operated. You'll just have to scope it out. Good luck.

You have a stuck air temperature control blend door problem. The blend door is what moves to divert air across the heater core and AC core to heat or coll the air or a combination of the hot and cold air streams, to blend them. To replace the part requires that the dash be removed from car as the door is located in the production.

That is where your Heater core is located. Its like a little radiater that your vents blow thru to get hot air for heating your interior. If thats leaking, its not gunna stop. Take this car in right away before you run your coolent dry and trash your car.

My heater only blows hot air when the car is moving and cool air when I sit at idle. Also the inside window fog up if I try to use the defroster mode 1st thing.

Your heating system is dependent on hot coolant to be circulated through your heater core, which a fan blows across, and you get heat. If you only get heat when you are moving, that means that either your engine is low on coolant, or the engine's water pump is not working well. Check your coolant level when your engine is cold.

I have changed the theromast twice and flushed the coolant system.The heater core is not leaking.. the blower is still blowing cool air.


The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.

if the car is not overheating, the thermostat is working fine.... replace or flush the heater core multiple times to try and eliminate sediment build-up.

Heater won't heat in cab


if the inlet and outlet hoses are getting hot to the heater core then the problem is the air temperture control blend door actuator in the heating/A/C ducts, this door directs air flow either across the heater core or the AC evaporator or mixes the 2 air flows for a desired temp at the outlets, hence the name blend door, to change this part u must remove the dash assembly.
