Question about 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic

2 Answers

I have a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic. Last year i was driving back from missouri when it acted like it was going to die when i gave it to much gas. After awhile it would just die while driving down the road. Then after i stopped for the night it started fine the next morning. It almost made it home before it quit again. Now it willnt start at all. I have checked to make sure fuel is getting into the engine and replaced the fuel filter. But i dont think she is getting spark. Is there anyone that might be able to solve this?

Mine did the same thing - not sure if yours is a 5.7 liter or not. Mine is, it's the LT1 engine and has the police package. Not sure if it's the same with the smaller engine, but if it is it could be something leaking over your distributor (water pump, coolant line, leaking oil getting sprayed upwards by the serpentine belt) which is an opti-spark. They are terrible and are labor-intensive to replace. It can be expensive and time-consuming unless you find someone who REALLY knows what they're doing - which isn't easy these days. Look up opti-spark, everyone hates it.

Have you Checked the Distributor Cap for Leaks? Could also be a Fuel pump going Bad, They will sometimes act Strange and Work fine later.

The car needs to be scanned. It is free at Autozone, Oreilys, and Advance autoparts. Get the Code number for the bad part. The clerks can tell you what is wrong.

My 1995 chevy caprice classic has a hard shifting problem between 1st & second gears. Any easy fixes to this?

Not really, unless there is a shift kit in there. Have a transmission shop check it out.

Unfortunately, this transmission will need a rebuild. this is much more than a filter or seal. what has happened here is, the gear ratio is all out of whack.

Also do not let tank run low because fuel in tank keeps in tank pump cool. This is why the pump is in the tank.
