    Where is it leaking from?

  • Curt Downs May 11, 2010

Hey Wildstyle, do u know where the leak is? How bad is it? (how far can u drive before u have to refill, and how much do u have to add?
If u aren't sure where the leak is, check under the center of the water pump, there's a weep hole that will leak when the bearings in the pump start to go. U might need to use a small mirror to get a good look there, but try to find the leak, because your overflow should work fine once the leak is fixed. Get back to me w/ the above info, we can continue from there.

The overflow tank ( sorta off white see through bottle with green stuff in it) has a hose attached to the bottom of it that should feed itself into the radiator ( usually right where the radiator cap is ). Make sure its connected .

Pull the dip stick for the oil , its probably over full ! The reason is that you have a bad head gasket ! So water / coolant are mixed with the oil !

No you don't. Trying to put freon in your car is not only expensive, it's dangerous and illegal. At $30 a can you don't want it to leak out and you have to be licensed by federal law in order to do it anyway.

You need to have a cooling system pressure test done, this way the leak can be found and repaired, worst cause now will be a radiator, if you keep running it, will more then likely start to leak more, where damage could happen to your head gasket, now you'll need a radiator and a head gasket replacement and maybe more, good luck, hope I was helpful.

The coolant reservoir has a line from the radiator, that is connected near the radiator cap,the other one hangs down for overflow, the radiator cap might be weak,so replace it with the one the vehicle calls for,if this does not stop then there is a problem, have it checked out,if this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and am having coolant problems. Every say 2 weeks or so, the coolant low level warning will come on and the overflow tank will be empty. radiator is still full though...

The hose is an over flow drain. If you've seen no signs of leaks then most likely your radiator cap is bad. The cap helps to pressurize the cooling system, if it is bad it allows to much coolant out to the over flow tank and the extra is dumped while your driving. When you turn off your engine the fluid is drawn back into the radiator and your coolant mysteriously disappears.

My mother in laws Jeep is overheating and she had someone look at it and said the "Overflow is not mixing with the Radiator" How do I fix this problem

Have you tried removing rad cap when cool & adding coolant while engine running & heater on. let it run through 2 or 3 cycles of rad fan coming on & off before you put cap back on. As far as coolnt return not working properly, possible bad rad cap, or kink in return hose, have a look if that is the problem.
