Unfortunaly This is a Common Problem on the Firebirds. You should be able to just Loosen the Exhaust and get to them on Most models. I know how Frustrating it is, Just vision how I felt when I tried after installing a 502 Chevy in my 86'! Never fun but Nesseary!

I drive a 95 toyota 4 runner.I would like to know the right way to check my sparkplug wires if working p roper.

You can fabricate a tester from a 6 inch long mongol pencil. Sharpen one end and drill a 1/8" hole in the middle. Now remove the sparkplug wire from each sparkplug and insert the pencil onto the sparkplug wire with the dsharpened end connected or touching the ground or any metal part of the engine. Start your engine and you should see sparks jumping on the drilled hole on the pencil which indicates that your spark plug wire is okay.

Need to check for spark in my car for fire in my sparkplug on my 1988\89 bmw 525i

remove a plug , the one with the longest ht lead would be best , once removed plug the ht lead back on to plug and rest plug against the engine block , DO NOT hold onto the plug during this next stage , get someone to turn the engine over whilst you look at the spark plug to see if there is a spark

Its misfiring on the #4 clyder what could cause this

Plug leads are quite prone to damage on these cars particularly where the lead enters the spark plug connector, moisture gets into the connector and corrodes the wire. New leads will solve this problem. There is an alternative to check if a spark is being produced but this is very dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Remove the sparkplug with lead still attached earth it on the engine and crank the starter. DO NOT TOUCH THE SPARKPLUG WHILST THIS TEST IS DONE. You shoud be able to see the spark jumping the gap in the sparkplug..

I cant find spark plugs

I am writing you the method on how to change sparkplugs, you may now have an idea where spark plug is loacted.

The Ford Expedition uses eight spark plugs to accommodateits eight-cylinder engine. Replacing the spark plugs every 75,000 miles is animportant part of overall vehicle maintenance. 1. Disconnectthe negative (black) battery cable from the battery terminal. Remove thewiring harnesses from the spark plug coils. There will be four on each side ofthe engine block, which you can remove by simply pulling them out of the sparkplug coils. 2. Unscrew the 7mm bolt from each of the spark plug coils usinga socket wrench and 7mm socket. 3. Pull each spark plug coil out of the engine block. Pull themout slowly, being careful not to damage or tear the coils. 4. Use a socket wrench and spark plug socket to unscrew eachspark plug from the engine block. Once you remove these, discard them. 5. Place the new spark plugs into the engine block and tightenthem using the socket wrench and spark plug socket. 6. Slide the spark plug coils back into the engine block. 7. Bolt the spark plug coils back into place using a socketwrench and 7mm socket. 8. Reattachthe wiring harnesses to the spark plug coils. 9 . Connect the negative battery cable to the negative batteryterminal.

Where are the spark plugs at

If you look at the motor you will see some wires running down to the side of the motor or on the top side of the motor. There should be six or eight (six or eight cylinder, one wire for each cylinder), these are the sparkplug wires going to the sparkplug. There is a black rubber boot covering the spark plugs so you can't see the plugs but if you pull the cover back with your finger you can see the spark plugs. Don't do this when the motor is hot or running. The black rubber boot keeps water and dirt off the spark plug.

1988 toyota camery firering order i need the diagram of the engine and how the spark plugs go on the engine

THE spark plugs are 4 and the firing order is from the front (thats were the fanbelts are )and they are 1342
so the distributor the timing mark on the bottom pully and the rotor button point to the No1 plug lead and points just about to open, and the next lead will point to No3 lead ,and if so then you have the correct timing,,but the points set at 0.012" and the plugs to 0.025" ..And when engine idleing adjust timing on the distributor to advance (thats the oppersite to the way it fires and do it with the vacuum pipe off ,,then when engine runs good ,then tighten calmp and refit the vac pipe and test run.

You will probably have to remove the tailpipe. Also there was a service bulletin put out on your car if it is a 1988 Firebird with the 2.8 V6 Engine. Not sure what engine you have but if it is V6 let me know and I will give you the service bulletin Information.

2001 Firebird V6 Sparkplug Diagram

The Firing Order is 1-6-5-4-3-2
When you take a wire off of the spark plug of a running engine, there is supposed to be an arc.

Remove and examine the spark plugs. See what condition they're in. It may be way past time for their replacement. Also check the spark plug wires. These are often neglected, and break down after time.
