Fuel filter replacement

2004 kia sedona. replacing the in-tank fuel filter per 45K service. tank apparently needs to be lowered to access the pump & filter. can the tank be lowered with hoses attached? they appear to be flexible, but I do not want to damage them.

Thanks,

Apparently I posted this twice under slightly different headers. Thanks for the prompt response. I was planning to use a lift to lower the tank.

I have since decided that the filter is not presenting any problems and therefore do not plan to replace it.

I believe there is actually an access panel in front of the second row seat behind the drivers seat that you can access the top of the tank, fuel pump and possibly the fuel filter if it is in the tank. Lift up the carpeting and check.

    1.

Remove the fuel tank cap to lower the fuel tank's internal pressure.

    2.

    Locate access cover.

    3.

Remove the fuel pump & fuel filter assembly installation screws, then remove the fuel pump & fuel filter assimbly from the fuel tank.

I supose that the lines could be left on, however they will really get in your way when working. If they require a "tool" to remove them, get one. Make sure that the tank is near empty before taking it down... gasoline weighs about 7.5lbs per gallon. It can be very heavy!!!

How to change fuel filter in Kia Sedona 2004

It is a long while since I serviced a Sedona but I do remember the fuel filter is in the engine compartment on the front right side. I serviced several diesel models.

You will find detailed instructions on www.ehow.com and www.answers.com or enter your question into the search box of your browser for links.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 04 sedona

No external filter used on your model.
Most companies stopped using filters in 2001.
There is a screen at the end of the fuel pump in the tank but not normally replaced.

How do I find the fuel filter on a 2007 Kia sedona

Like many other vehicles today, your fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. It is not serviced as maintenance. ONLY if there is an issue with weak fuel pressure or fuel pump failure. This means that if you replace the filter, you are replacing the whole pump assembly at around $400 for the part. If you want to replace it, you remove the rear seat cushion and there is an access panel to remove to get to top of fuel tank and remove the fuel pump to replace it.

But again, you dont need to replace this unless it has failed.

2002 kia sedona, can you replace the fuel filter without replacing the fuel pump

the fuel filter is inline with the fuel line in front of the fuel tank. Inside the tank is a sock that filters the fuel in the suction pipe to the fuel pump also That sock filter is always replaced upon replacing the pump only.

Drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump. Filter is attached to the fuel pump. Sounds like the fuel pump is failing.
