wiring connector going to injection unit on right side of engine disconnect it clean terminals with screwdriver and sand paper wet and dry preferabely once this is done spray connectors ,reconnect it and joddle the all other electrical connections on engine spray all with wd40 once this is done the car will start you could try starting car after each connection worked on common fault on these cars also if its a immobiliser fault reset sequence as follows remove key from ign lock up car holding key in locked position count to 30 seconds then unlock car,put key in the ignition to third position( ie key position before starter is engaged) wait 20 seconds then remove key reinsert and car will start if not go through sequence again
all renault are prone to electronics problems, especially the immobiliser system, you will need to take it to a dealer for them to put it on the computer.you can then decide whether you can fit the req part of get them to replace whatever.sorry to say you cannot remove the system and when it goes wrong its a bi..h.
renault ??? well known for electrical problems ,right try this first ,use key with the remote and lock and unlock the doors three times slowly then within 15 secs jump in and try to start ,if that doesnt work then try it with the spare key manually. Now if that doesnt work then call renault assistancia becuase these cars are a mechanics worst nightmare with the chipped key and immobilisor system
if the red light flashes on the dash its going to be an immobiliser fault, normally it is the key that is at fault, the keys are pricey about £80 plus programmimg, but you can manually override the immobiliser on the early scenics, just pop into your renault dealer and ask for your immobilser code, normally charge a tenner or so, and ask if someone can show you how to put it in.
6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.
7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.
8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second
9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle
confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and
9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.
You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works
Hello, Gosh my 51 reg renault does exactly the same! Took it to a garage had the throttle body replaced with a genuine renault part but went again few months later - this time the car would not start - relays corroded. Had the throttle body replaced under warranty (Jan 08) but then it went again - this time told by renault that a Wiring loom needed replacing - £150 +VAT & labour. Last week went again - i'm beginning to think that this car will never be fixed. Renault wanted to charge £300 to fix but told them we had had all this work done previously and they came back and said it was a faulty connection. Tonight (05th Sept 08) as i type this my husband is waiting for the AA to tow him to renault as it has, yes you've guessed it happened again!!!!!!! This is rediculous, does no-one at renault know how to fix this??!!
