I pressed to put the window having washed the car following day.
But when i pressed up on mastrer switch it went down!!
And wont come back up, when i press down on master switch theres nothing so assume thats ok as its right down, but press up and i get clicking from a brown relay i assume i can see behind the door, i unplugged this and it was a bit wet.
However still wont go up, fuses are ok.
Dont know if its a motor, switch relay problem.

Re: mondeo mk1 drivers elec window stuck down
Hi!Base on what u have mentioned, the water is what causes the problem.U see water is a form of conductor and once it is in the switch it will distort the effective operation and it could also causes the switch to burnt.U need to use compress air and blow out the switch removing all the moisture that may present. If it don't work u will have to replace it.

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.
no. the drivers switch is the MASTER switch and not like the others. if the window goes up but not down, most likely the switch. get inside the car and open the door, as you are holing the window switch down, slam the door shut a few times, sometimes this will "jar" the window motor loose if it is stuck. if it works ok now, the window motor is jamming and will need replacement. another trick is to carefully watch the dome light as you are working the switch, if you push the switch down, and the dome light dims "slightly", the switch is good and the motor is stuck.
Window motors & regulators go bad every day. Pull your door panel, unplug the motor, if you have an ohm meter apply the leads to the leads into the motor. One will be ground the other two will raise and lower (reverse) the motor. If you show resistance between the leads the motor windings are good and the problem may be the window regulator. If you do not have an ohm meter, you can run two wires (one ground, the other hot) and test the motor by applying elec to it.
I had this problem a few times when my MINI was parted in the heat for a few hours. There's a sensor in the door that reads when the window is all the way up (or not). Most likey the window wasn't closed all the way when you powered down the system. I guess when you open the door, the window doesn't drop (around 1/2 inch) as normal either? Just start the car and drive around for a few minutes and try holding the window switch UP for a while. MINI service dept. told me the system checks the sensors every few minutes. So just try UP after a few mins. then DOWN until it opens.
Have you tried to put up using the passenger switch? I know this sounds crazy but i have had a few with bad switches and person never thought to try other switch. Can you hear any noise in door? when working switch? if so regulator has come apart and wiill have to remove panel to get window up
if you get the noise from the switch the switch is bad but if your getting it from the door you will have to remove the door panel access the gear box and pray to god the gears are not striped if they are not striped find window grease for these particular gear boxes and grease the hell out of the gear box this should relieve its tension
also if your window system is cable connected looks like a bikes brake line this will probably be fragged apart if so then you will need to purchase at dealer ship or have them replace at dealer ship the fraged cable
