Question about 1995 Ford F250

1 Answer

I have a 1995 ford f250 with the 7.3L diesel. The vehicle makes a large sucking noise when cold, and the engine loses power. when the rpm's pick up, it regains power and drives well. Problem goes away when the truck warms up. Also experiencing an intermittent loss of power steering, which seems to be tied to applying the brakes. When you are at a stop light, the brake light goes on, when you move, it goes out. Loss of power steering occurrs at these times. (sometimes)

The problem is due to a lack of compression in the engine when the truck is cold, try using the engine block heater more, or allow more time for the truck to warm up.

O2 dodge dakota sounds like it sucking air at low rpms

Most likey is just the sound of air being sucked into throttle body. Some vehicles make louder noises like that especially if it has an aftermarket cold air intake. Because the air filter box muffles that sound. It's possible that it has a vacuum leak as well which can make a sucking noise if it's large enough. Usually a large vacuum leak will affect the way an engine runs though

Why does the 98 expedition 5.4 triton egine makles a ticking sound at 2-3 rpm

1. Make sure you have a detailed description of the noise is concerned with, including whether the noise is occurring at idle or above idle speed (does it disappear above 1,200 rpm), and if the engine is cold, hot or both when the noise is occurring. These engines generate a lot of "normal" noises 2. Determine what environment is in when the noise is most noticeable to them (inside passenger compartment, next to building with/without the driver and/or passenger window open, or beside the wheel well). Validate by using your own perception. 3. Compare the noise generated with a new vehicle, if available, with an ENGINE build date of 3/30/2005 or later on Mustang and 4/18/2005 or later on F-150 to F-350, Expedition and Navigator vehicles. if the noise is the same, the noise is normal and would be a characteristic of the vehicle. Do not continue with this bulletin. 4. Diagnose noise when engine is at normal operating temperature. Verify oil temperature by using a diagnostic scan tool and monitoring the engine oil temperature. 5. Check the type of oil filter installed on the vehicle. A dirty or clogged filter may cause a pressure drop. Look for aftermarket brands not recognized in the market or a production filter that has gone beyond the standard Ford recommended change interval. 6. Check for signs of oil brand used and viscosity.

I dont think the turbo is working!

Unless something has gone horribly wrong with your vehicle, a turbocharger is a maintenance free item. A turbocharger works by using exhaust gas pressure to spin a turbine, wich then sucks and compresses cool clean air into the engine. Depending on what make and model vehicle, you can see how the turbo works by briefly removing the intake tube, from the air-side intake snail. revving the engine, hold your hand over the turbo snail you should feel quiet a lot of air being dispelled from the turbo. No oil should appear on your hands and their should not be any unusual noises, apart from the turbo whistle. Hook it all back up and whilst driving you should be able to feel a small increase in power, through the rev range. Depending on make and model, this will vary at the point this turbo boost comes in to play. Many engines it is around 1900-2500 Rpm. Petrols will be higher than diesels!
