The last two times I have driven my 1993 Mazda 626, the engine has stopped for no apparent reason. Both times, the car was around 2000 rpm. Once was on the freeway, and I was lucky to be able to get to the right and stop. When I tried to restart it, the engine turned over, but did not start. Then, each time, I opened the hood, wiggled some wires (I am no mechanic!!!), got back in the car and it started again. Apparently my neice had the same problem with her mid 90s 626 as well. It was never properly diagnosed, so she sold it. Any clues?

I would start with a good tune up, including the intake gasket. Changes in temperature could cause gaskets to stop sealing properly letting unmeasured air inside the engine. Also check for fuel filter.
it's probably the problem with the sensor failure or the switch fails to completely off the current flow, it's a miner issue so for hazel free drive do visit the nearest MAZDA authorized service station or see for a good skilled & experienced mechanic who may sort out this problems so till the next this is siddhesh saying bye for now feel free to ask any quires regarding automobile field we will be happy to help you so till the next time have safe drive & happy motoring.
most probably the throttle body is whats causing it to stop. first try removing it and clean it thoroughly with any carburetor and choke cleaner if that didn't solve the problem have the engine diagnosed for any faults or errors
my 1988 mazda 626 starts okay then dies everytime it idles down to normal idle speed. i replaced the throttle control sensor and the mass air sensor. i replaced the rotor in the distributor but is still dies. if you throttle up to about 1500 rpm it keeps running. any ideas???
