It may appear if there is a particular sensor fails.
Try stopping the indication using the following technique.
Sometimes the problem could be solved.

If you can get an OBD 2 scanner off eBay (US$ 6), you could be able to communicate with your car ECU (Electronic Control Unit) using the smart-phone app.

So that, there is a chance to CLEAR all the error indications.

After that, if problem still persists, it means the vehicle need full scan (you can't do this at home, probably seek a vehicle garage).

The engine warning light on indicates an emissions problem. U should get it checked out, as it can affect engine performance (fuel economy, polluting the atmosphere,) and may cause other components to malfunction if ignored. Most auto parts stores will check for engine trouble codes for free. They plug a hand held scan tool into your cars computer (a port located under the dash, driver side), and it 'reads' any codes that are stored in the computer. Ask what the codes are,(and write the #'s down) and what they recommend to fix the problem. If u have any further questions, u can post them here. And the coolant is supposed to be a yellow/green color.Happy new year!

Recently I turned on my 2000 caravan and the check engine light came on and I noticed that it was running really poorly (trembling, and acting like the spark plug wires were crossed). I figured it was time for a tune-up but after giving it a good tune-up the engine light still came on. I had it scanned at my local auto parts store and it came up with a faulty fuel injector code for cylinder 3 (thats the middle back one on a 3.0 V6). So I ordered a whole new set online (you can get them professionally cleaned to original specs or buy refurbished replacement ones for under $20 a piece if you google it. I got all six so they'll all have the same flow rate (I figure the other ones are not far behind from getting plugged up too so why not do them all and save the installation costs later). Tomorrow I'll get my van back and hopefully it should be running like new and the check engine light will go off. Just wanted to post another reason why the check engine light comes on.

Check engine light is on

The check engine light could relate to something else - not your battery or alternator.

If your battery isn't charging from the alternator an illuminated battery symbol would appear.

It could be many things - low oil level, low coolant level, low windscreen washer fluid level. It could even be an electronic 'fault' - which a computerised diagnostic check would identify.

If the battery warning light is illuminated the first thing you should do is to check the tension of the alternator belt. You say that a new battery and alternator have been fitted? Take it to an auto electrician - he should identify any fault within minutes.

Engine light is not switching off while driving

Run fault codes to find out what put the engine light on. Replace or repair asap as it is telling you that something serious has happened to the engine management systems. Check oil level and coolant level at the radiator. To ignore a warning light is an invitation to expensive disaster.

Low coolant light stays on

If you've checked your coolant level and it is ok, then more than likely engine oil is contaminating your cooling system. GM published a service bulletin on this exact problem. Possible sources of contamination are internal engine leaks, improper service procedures, or addition of excessive antileak addatives into the cooling system. The problem occurs when the oil leaves deposits
on the "low coolant warning sensor" which causes a false reading and puts the light on. The sensor is mounted on the right hand tank of the radiator. Flush the cooling system, replace the sensor, and add the proper amount of O.E. recommended coolant.

Engine oil pressure light came on. I checked oil levels and added 1/2 ltr. Light went out and didn't come back on. tune up to be done on Tuesday next week. I suspect it might be the oil filter. Should...

If your oil level is full, light is off and no abnormal engine noises, if should be ok to drive to the shop. If light does come on, stop the engine. I would also have the shop check your oil pressure with a manual gauge, to determine the exact oil pressure reading. This could save you from major engine failure due to low oil pressure. I hope this helps.

What does the yellow exclamation point mean with squiggly lines on the 2008 Dodge Caravan?

Hi it could mean your coolant level is low or the level sensor is faulty or it could mean you have water in the diesel filter its nothing serious if its the filter as its a common warning light most cars get it dont mean your engine is full of water it just mean some has been picked up in the fuel and its just warning you of this, most of the time its a faulty sensor so dont be to concerned

just make sure you check the coolant level and top it up if needed if the level is ok then its more than likely a faulty sensor

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

2001 Dodge Caravan heater blows cold air when stopped

Have you checked the coolant level? What you describe is exactly what happens if the coolant level is low. When stopped at idle, hot coolant is not circulating through the heater core, so no heat. As the engine increases in rpm's when you pull away from the light, the water pump is spinning quicker, and some coolant is making it to the heater core. So check the level, and if it is low, keep an eye on it to see if it drops again. That of course indicates a leak somewhere. Get it fixed, as overheating the engine leads to costly repairs and worse case a new engine. Let me know how you make out with this.

OIl light

Be sure to check your oil level, which I'm sure you have, and be sure your reading the dipstick correctly, by rolling it over and being sure level is same on both sides. My guess is that maybe your sending unit is getting a little sensitive. What will happen when you stop, the oil in the pan shifts forward enough to starve the oil pick-up in the pan enough that the oil pressure will drop just enough for the sending unit to alert you. The other possibility is sludge build up in your engine, is not allowing oil from top of engine to drain back down to pan fast enough, thus your basically running with low oil level all the time. Do you and have you change oil often ?
