1993 lumina euro z34, light on drivers door key lock stays on ?

Does not time out, drains new battery overnight, problems looks to be affected by ambient temp. I pull the 15 amp fuse labeled elect from fuse
box and light goes out. What do I check or replace next ?

There is a light ring around the drivers door lock, that when you pull on the handel or put the key in the lock it lights up. This light normally goes out after a short period of time. Now that the weather is cold this light stays on and drains the battery down overnight. There must be a time dely relay in the door that is bad or intermitent ? If I pull the 15 amp fuse from the fuse pannel labeled elect, this disables the circuit and light goes out. What would be the solution ? When this light is on there is about 1.5 amps being drawn from the battery. My car book does not give enough detail for this circuit. Thanks for your help.

The problem was a shorted switch located on the passenger door latching mechanisim. This switch is rivited to the latch. It is a normally open switch. When the handel is pulled the switch will close activating the circuit which lights the lamp around the key entry on the drivers door. with the switch shorted this cased the circuit to be active all the time draining the battery overnight drawing 1.5 amps when active. disconecting the light will not cure the problem. replace the switch or disconect it.

The only way really to get to this is to Pull the Door Panel and Check the Wiring and See if there is not a Relay Inside of the Door Panel. You will need some new Door Panel Fasteners to replace the ones that Break when you remove the Panel. You can get these at any Auto Parts Store and they don't Cost that much. Let me know what you Find!

Sorry it took me so long to get Back on-I had to run some Errands. It would replace it. You should be able to use aScrew where the Rivet goes on the New one and it will be just fine. Let me know!

The battery runs down when 1993 lumina sets overnight

You have a parasatic load. use an ammeter and connect it in series with battery ground post and battery ground cable . Make sure vehicle is off and all accessories are off .AS A RULE OF THUMB (if you don't have specs) ANY READING OVER A HALF OF A VOLT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Start pulling fuses until voltage returns to normal(0.50 volts) or whatever spec's say. The fuse you pulled that made voltage return to normal is the affected circuit. Find its short and repair it. Had several lunina's were the head light switch was the villan. Good luck.

2007 hhr. Battery was drained. Mother left lights on overnight. Tried jump starting no good. Tried charging with new charger nothing. Did notice that once you put the key in the car the alarm lock light...

your alarm system has been tripped when the battery went dead, to get the information on how to reset the alarm is to call the car manufacture to get the procedure, and should not cost you anything.

How can i check to see if the timing chain is the problem? i have 1993 chevy lumina z34

if this car has the twin cam engine it has timing belts and if its running then there is no problem with that...if the timing belts are broke or have no tension then you will have bent valves possibly.

1998 Ford Windstar fuse problem - dome light stays on etc

you most likely have a bad door ajar switch- the door panel has to be removed to access it, its on the door latch- you can unplug them this will take care of the batt drain prob.as for the locks it may be a switch problem- most ford vehicles will not let you lock the vehicle from the driver's door when it's open to prevent locking the keys in.

2001PT Cruiser door locks

The fuse is No.3 "DR locks" (near steering wheel)
If you take the fuse out the doors will not open itselves.

The root cause of the problem will be a microswitch inside the drivers door?

Check this:

======FOG LIGHTS ============

1.At first take out the foglight's fuse before you battery is dead. (Fog lights stays "ON" even you leave the car).

2.You must replace the Multifunction control switch =(

Here is the photo of problem:
http://www.ptcruiser.fi/ptgalleria/albums/userpics/10010/normal_sumuvalokytkin.jpg

Fog lights are connected to pin 13,14.
Fog light switch is "B". Because the current is many Amps, contact surfaces are heating up.
After that the contact opening "C" is melting (made of plastic) so the fog light stays "ON".
