Car will not kick over

Recently my car was in a minor accident. the car bottomed out after hitting the side of a building. it made it on top of a hill where it shut it self off. i went back to start it up and it want kick over. the starter, alternator and the battery is just fine. the car has gas in it but it still want kick over. i am wondering does the tauras has a kill switch or something like that that protects the car from further damages. if it does, how do i over ride it so i can get my car to start up

Your car does have a fuel pump shut off switch. You can check your owner's manual. I found a copy of it online and they say it's on the right side of your trunk behind one of the service panels. the following info is right from the Ford manual.

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by
pushing down on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and
return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.

Lastly, start you car up as normal. If it still doesn't start, don't put stress on your starter, turn the key on and off slowly a few times, then try starting it again. If this doesn't work, something else may be going on.

I recently got in accident 2010 Ford escape air bag went off now car won't kick over need. To know if there a switch that shuts off car like a kil switch please help me out thanks brandi

HI Brandi. Sorry to hear about your accident, hope your ok. Ford has a very good safety switch that shuts off the fuel system in case of an accident. The worst thing is that it will go off if you hit a bump real hard out you hit a speed bump. Now here it's the tricky part. Do you have the owners manual? If you do look for the section on emergency shut off switch. In some cases out cars it's hidden on the passengers. If your sitting in the passenger seat, where your right foot would be there is a little push switch under the carpet against the panel. Where the carpet goes up the side, you should be able to lift it away. You may feel a little protrusion. The switch needs to be pushed down. IF ITS NOT ON THAT SIDE, LOOK IN SAME AREA ON DRIVES SIDE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MANUAL, YOU CAN GO ON ANY OF THE U-TUBE SITES. IN SEARCH, LOOK FOR RESETTING FUEL SHUT OFF SWITCH. LET ME KNOW IF IT HELPS. Are you driving with the air bag sucking out of the steering wheel?

Check for worn suspension parts, uneven tire wear, mismatched tire sizes etc...
Was the vehicle hit or in an accident however minor, did the undercarriage contact debris on the highway, was the vehicle recently serviced (brakes or tires)

My pontiac G6 fail to start after a minor accident

There is a fuel shut off switch that needs to be reset. Most common places for this switch is in the trunk or behind the passengers side kick panel by the door. Your manual should tell you where it is and how to reset. usually just push the button back in

My car died at a stop light. When I try to start, it cranks very well but no kicking over.

This may be a long shot, but if the vehicle was running well before stopping, and you stopped rather suddenly, the fuel pump shut off may have been engaged. It's made to stop fuel flow in the event of a minor accident, but if the switch were rather touchy, it may have triggered. Not sure where it's located on your vehicle- check manual. On many cars, it's located behind the passenger side kick panel.

Good luck.

I hit my letf side (conductor) of my toyota dx wagon 93 in an accident. My car wont turn on... Why is that??

their is an inersha switch in it which shuts off the fuel when you get into an accident you will have to locate the switch and reset it to start the car! should be behind the kick pannel on the passanger side (under the glove box, behind the carpet cover thing, where your feet would be when you sit in the car) once you remove the carpet and pul it back a little look on the side and you should see a little box with a button on top that is the switch just reset it and your good!

Accident + car fuses?

This could be caused by what is called a "fuseable link" it is a piece of wire that is designed to carry only so much amperage (current) sometimes when you have an accident and you have electrical shorts caused by the accident the fuseable link will break because of the electrical short. Some cars have fuseable links going to the starter solinoid and if these short out the car will not start. On the focus the fuel cut off switch is located on the passenger kick panel under the dash. The ones I have seen have a red button and you have to press down on them to reset them.
