I have a 1967 chevy truck that I inherited from my dad. Saved up for 5 years to get the engine rebuilt Got hosed by the mechanic. Whoever did the machining was on drugs. Got HORRIBLE slapping on the #1 piston. Brother disconnected the gas pedal but I need it hooke up so I candrive it to my sisters to store 'til I can save enough to have it fixed.Yeh, I thought about suing the mechanic, but that takes money, too and it took 5 years to save for the first go round. All I have is Social Security and very little of that.
Didnt specify much like engine size--generic answer--67 carbed vehicles used a simple cable to linkage hook up on side of carb
1968 Chevy C10 Inline 6 250 Carb upgrade Install Holley 350 CFM 2 barrel... and if you have bad slap engine may not make it to far before blowing up or seizing

It sounds like you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is in the throttle body housing and the throttle body in your truck works best at 13psi to 15psi, Any other setting will cause problems. Check the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator at the throttle body and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. The way the throttle body works is for the first 75% of the throttle, the ecm uses the signal form the O2 sensors to control the air fuel ratio and tries to keep it to 14.7:1 but at full throttle it by pass the O2 sensor signal and runs the engine richer and advances the timing so you can drive with wings like red bull. The Map sensor then takes over to promote the engine to run richer so you don't run lean and detonation occurs. If there is a problem with your throttle body position sensor, map sensor. and fuel pressure regulator, then at WOT (skinny peddle down) you may be running to rich. The other thing to is if your fuel pressure drops at WOT you'll get a lean condition and then you'll have detonation ( Knocking) and the timing will be turned down to keep detonation from occurring again and that may be the cause if your check engine light too. First and easiest thing to do is change the fuel filter and add fuel injector cleaner to you gas tank, buy a throttle body cleaner and clean your throttle body to make sure you don't have varnish build up around the throttle body, just follow the instruction on the can. Throttle body cleaner not carb cleaner. Start with that and i hope we don't have to do any more to get your truck running like a rocket. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.
SOURCE: i have a 96 chevy c1500 5.7 distributor problem
after installing distributor a camshaft offset check must be performed.this requires a scan tool.start engine with scan tool attached to diagnostic connector under dash,go to cam offset,it should show a value of 0 to -2 or +2.to adjust cam offset shut off engine, loosen dist. hold-down bolt, which should be 13mm bolt head.move dist slightly, start engine and rev to 1200 rpm and check scan tool to see updated cam offset value
SOURCE: My security light is on and my my 1997 chevy lumina won't start
I had a similar problem in my '97 Cutlass Supreme. The two vehicles have the same electrical makeup. My car would not start either and I had to take it to the dealer. $544 later, it ran fine. My problem was a shorted out ignition. You may have shorted yours out when you arched the starter. The only thing you can do is to disconnect the negative battery terminal and let the car sit for about an hour. The security light may go off then. I hope it does. If not, then to the dealer it is.
SOURCE: my 2001 chevy truck gas pedal sticks and how to
clean the throttle body with carb cleaner and rag or small brush open the blade and clean both sides and the throttle body itself
1. Remove serpentine belt
2. loosen power steering pressure and return hoses
3. Remove nut from pressure line mounting on alternator bracket
4. remove power steering pump mounting bolts.
5. Lift pump assembly from engine mounting and remove hoses.
6. Reverse order to install. Fill and bleed system.
NOTE: A new or rebuilt power steering pump will most likely not come with a pulley attached. You will need a power steering pulley remover/installer tool to transfer the pully from the old pump to the new one.
