Question about 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser
We cannot figure out how to access and remove the air cleaner housing in this piece of #%^$ , and need help .in order to remove the battery that is shoe horned in there.
For the 2.4L LE and BE PT Cruisers, the first thing you need to do is remove the air filter housing by un-clipping it. the tricky part is that the battery is held down by a clamp that requires you to remove the main electrical box and base. it looks harder than it is because it is simply two rubber grommets anchored to a metal plate. you can reach your hand underneath and feel for them, then push them upward through the anchor holes to release the base. you will see the clamp that holds the battery in place, just remove the two bolts that are holding it down and replace the battery with a new on and reverse the procedure. hope this was helpful, i spent almost 1.5 hours figuring it out

Tips for a great answer:
All of the electrical current distributed throughout this vehicle is directed through the standard equipment Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). The molded plastic TIPM housing is located in the left front corner of the engine compartment, just behind the air cleaner housing and the battery. The TIPM housing has a molded plastic cover. The TIPM cover is easily removed for service access and has a convenient fuse and relay layout label affixed to the inside surface of the cover to ensure proper component identification.
The TIPM housing is secured to the left inner fender well an indexing pin and one *****. All of the TIPM outputs are through the integral engine compartment wire harness.
